The native of Tattnall County lived in Evans County most of his life. He was a member of Bellville United Methodist Church and served on the Evans County Board of Education for many years. He was a former trustee of Tattnall Camp Ground and former owner and president of O.H. Daniel Lumber Co. He was Soil Conservation Man of the Year in 1988. SURVIVORS: his wife of 63 years, Nita Powell Daniel of Bellville; a son and daughter-in-law, Emmett and Peggy Daniel of Bellville; two sisters, Mary D. Daniel of Bellville and Stella D. Powell of Claxton; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Lenora and Craig Buckley of Bellville; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Emmett O. and Shelley Daniel of Bellville; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. VISITATION: beginning at 6 p.m. today at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home, Claxton. FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Saturday at Bellville United Methodist Church, burial in Daniel-Smith-Tippins Cemetery, Bellville.
