  	Mrs. Witherspoon was a daughter of the late Tilman Earl Wilkes and Mamie Jordan Wilkes. She was retired from Lamar Hosiery Mill and the Town of Lamar, where she served each as secretary. She was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Allen Childers whom she married on Dec. 2, 1942. They were parted by his death on December 1, 1966. She later married Ted Wister Witherspoon of Lamar on August 31, 1967. They were parted by his death on June 22, 2004. She lived most of her life in Lamar except during the early years of her marriage to Mr. Childers, which were spent in Myrtle Beach, SC.
