    • Don Alvin Messervy, Sr., 77, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at The Charleston VA Medical Center.

      The relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside funeral services at St. Paul's Episcopal Churchyard in Meggett, SC, Monday, May 28, 2007 at Ten-thirty O'clock. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Sunday May 27, 2007 between five and seven O'clock.

      Don Messervy was born in Greenville, SC, March 15, 1930, the son of Luder Cadow Messervy and Lois Villna Crenshaw Messervy and raised in Meggett, SC. He was a retired Construction Superintendent for Sanders and Brother's Construction Company. Mr. Messervy was best known for all the road construction projects he helped build from Folly Beach, West Ashley, the Naval Weapons Station to Moncks Corner. He was also a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. His hobbies were gardening, animals and spending time with his family and friends.

      Surviving are daughters, Donna Onez Messervy Clark (Richard) of Shelby, NC, Cindy Ann Messervy Sanders (Frank) of San Antonio, TX; sons, Don Alvin Messervy, Jr. (Susan S.) of Holly Hill, SC, Anthony Craig Messervy (Susan C.) of James Island, SC; brothers, Thomas William Messervy (Peggy) of James Island, SC, Luder Cadow Messervy, Jr. (Dale) of James Island, SC; sisters, Martha Virginia Messervy Bryson of Greenville, SC, Carolyn Jean Messervy McLeod (Robert) of Southern Pines, NC, Patricia Maria Messervy Milton (Frederick) of Fredericksburg, VA; 13 grandchildren, Jake, Amy, Jesse, Sam, Chauntelle, Donnie, Philip, Renie, Merritt, Daniel, Jason, Nicole, John-Michael and 5 great-grandchildren, Jason, John, Harley, James and Mason.

      He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Elizabeth Clark Messervy; son, Burnett Burnie Wilkie Messervy; sisters, Barbara Lynn Messervy McKesson and Hilmer Ann Messervy.

      The family wishes to give special thanks to the VA Medical Center and especially the Dialysis team for the wonderful care their father received.
