  	Asheville - Paul Clement McCartin continued his journey with God on the day of his passing, May 3, 2014. Paul McCartin was a man of God who chose many pathways in order to serve, love and honor the Lord. Paul's early career began as a Catholic Priest in the small southern town of Monroe, NC. Paul's parish knew him as a man of integrity, compassion and great wit. One of Paul's greatest joys was being involved with others and sharing Love, Laughter and Song. Paul's continued journey with God brought him into the field of substance abuse counseling. Upon completion of his credentials, Paul worked for The Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center, run by the State of North Carolina. Paul also had a small, private practice assisting and supporting the friends of Bill. Paul's skills and knowledge in the areas of addiction and recovery were shared with great hope, honesty and gratitude. Whether spending time with Paul in the church or in the community, one thing was for sure, you always felt better after being with Paul and you always walked away with a smile. Paul's life, most profoundly, can be celebrated through the love he gave and the love he received. Through Paul's union with BJ McCartin, the depth of unconditional love and passion exemplified the sanctity of marriage. Paul and BJ celebrated, with joy, 31 years of love sharing and fearless adventures. Their love is now and will always be blessed YEAH GOD! Mass will be held at St. Eugenes Church at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 7th. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Adult Day Services at CarePartners (Asheville, NC). Paul volunteed at CarePartners for a number of years bringing laughter, song and joy to both participants and staff.
