Duaine "Duke" Farrin, 78, passed away Dec. 24, 2003 at Parkview Episcopal Hospital in Pueblo. He was born in Sioux City, IA, on Dec. 12, 1925.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, Walsenburg; children, Renee Greffee, Phoenix, Tom Kimbrel, Pocatello, ID, Bob Kimbrel, Pueblo, and Kathy Cochran, Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Nate (Norma) Frolkey, of Missouri; sister, Yvonne Ford, of Georgia; and grandchildren, Tauna and B.J. Gordon, Richard Rignall, Lauren Greffee, David and Rachel Kimbrel, Robin and John Zahurak, Stacy and David Monsey and Cynthia and Robbie Meyers.
Duke is best remembered playing the fiddle with Buddy Johnson and the Colorado Rangers in the '50s and '60s throughout Southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. He also managed Duke's Radio & TV Repair Service in Walsenburg. He spent 17 years in Greenland working as a communications specialist on Thule AFB. Most recently, he was a member of the "New Entertainers" who specialized in the hits of the '40s and '50s playing weekly for the seniors at the Pueblo Extended Care Center. He also built beautiful clocks for family and friends.
