    Lula - Lee (Hodges) Inman, 82, of Jacksonville, passed away Dec. 17, 2006 after a brief illness.

    She was born in Nassau Co., daughter of the late Robert Oliver Hodges and Stella Rowe Hodges.

    She is survived by Calvin C. Inman, two daughters, Patricia Soles of Nassau Co. and Wanda (Richard) Johnson of Bethlehem, Ct.; one son, Darrell Carter of St. Mary's, Ga.; ten grandchildren, Michael, Regina, Chris, Richard, Jennifer, Dusty, Jason, Jeremy, Tara and Chad; nine greatgrandchildren, Kaley, Triston, Logan, Zachary, Taylor, Chase, Paige, Carson and Pierce. She had two brothers, Fernnie (Nancy) Hodges and Douglas (Doris Evelyn) Hodges, both of Nassau Co.; one sister, Violet (Hodges) Hickox of Folkston, Ga. as well as many nieces and nephews.

    Mrs. Inman was also predeceased by one brother, Freddie Hodges and sister, Becky Mae (Hodges) Jones. Mrs. Inman was a member of Shiloh Free Baptist Church.

    Visitation for family and friends will be held at Callahan Funeral Home, Callahan, Fl. Wed. Dec. 20, 2006 from 6 till 8 p.m.

    Funeral Services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL. Thurs. Dec. 21, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Leonard Owens will officiate.

    Internment will be in Mill Creek Cemetery, Hilliard, FL.

    Mr. Douglas Joseph Hodges, Sr., 81, of Hilliard, FL, passed away August 15 at his residence surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born December 5, 1928 in Kent, Florida to the late Robert Oliver and Stella Rowe Hodges.

    He was a member and Deacon of River Road Baptist Church. He served as a Nassau County Commissioner for 8 years. He was a Gideon and a Past President of the Northeast Florida Fair.

    He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Doris Hicks Hodges; 6-Children: Wayne Douglas (Ann) Hodges, Dianne (Noah) Smith, Darlene (Dwight) Johns, Brenda (James) Thomas, Douglas Joseph “Buddy” (Susie) Hodges, Jr., and Rhonda (Rester) Bryan; 18-Grandchildren, 30-Great Grandchildren; and a Sister: Violet Hickox; and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

    The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 17 at River Road Baptist Church from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 18 at River Road Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. James Conner, Rev. Ken Westbrook, Rev. Rusty Bryan, and Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Conner-Green Cemetery.

    Violet Lee Hodges Hickox, 96, of Folkston, GA passed away October 9, 2015 at the Life Care Center in Hilliard, FL. She was born February 6, 1919 in Nassau County, FL to the late Robert Oliver Hodges and Stella Rowe Hodges. She was employed with King Edward Cigars in Waycross, GA for 38 years. She was a member of Grace Chapel Baptist Church. After retirement she loved traveling and gardening and tending to her flowers at her home. Her greatest pleasure in life was her family. Each member held a special place in her heart

    Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Paul Samuel Hickox; a son: Ralph Austin Hickox, Sr.; an infant son: Samuel Eugene Hickox; 2-Grandsons: Matthew Curtis Gowen and Austin Taylor Robertson; 2-Sisters: Becky Mae Jones and Lula Inman and 3-Brothers: Freddy Hodges, Fernie Hodges, and Douglas Hodges.

    She is survived by her son: Harley (Sandra) Hickox; 3-Grandsons: Byron (Judith) Hickox, Jonathan (Ansley) Hickox and Ralph Austin (Jamie) Hickox, JR; 4-Granddaughters: Donna (Howard) Poe, Deborah (Robert) Shelnutt, Delores (Mike) Todd, and Deanna Robertson; 14-Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    The family will receive friends Saturday, October 10 at Shepard Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 11 at 3:00 PM at Grace Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. John Boatright officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

    Delaner Robinson passed away on August 7, 2020, in Orange Park, FL. He was born on March 6, 1937, in Calhoun, GA.

    He served eight years in the Army Reserves and worked for Florida Times-Union for 49 years. Delaner was an avid genealogist and enjoyed searching his family history at Callahan Genealogy Society. He loved fishing and gardening.

    Delaner was friendly and caring to all and was referred to as the "Gentle Giant," due to his 6'5' height. He fought his illness with dignity and undue strength to the end. He will be greatly missed by many.

    He is survived by his loving wife, Cecelia; children, Dale, Peggie, and Jimmie, of Georgia; stepchildren, Charlene and Clifford Garrity, of Florida; brothers, David, and Danny Jones, and many loving friends and neighbors.

    Due to COVID-19, interment will be arranged at a later date by Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233.

    Funeral services for Johnny Casey Jones, 64, who died Monday, December 25, 2006, will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206 with Rev. Lamar Lee officiating.

    Interment in Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery in Folkston, Georgia , where a graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday.

    The family will receive friends Thursday (Tonight) from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

    Mr. Jones was a native of Brantley County, Georgia and a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida. He loved to fish and did so when ever he had a chance to.

    Survivors include his wife of many years, Kitty Jones; 3 sons, Randy Casey Jones (Jennifer), John Evans and Tom Evans; 4 daughters, Sherlene Jones Geiger (Robbie), Deborah Padgett, Tina Brown and Sonia Cothran; 3 brothers, Delaner Robinson (Ceil), David Jones and Danny Jones. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

    Homeland Mayor Ralph “Austin” Hickox, Sr., 74, of Homeland, Georgia passed away September 23, 2014 surrounded, and cared for, by his beloved five children. He was a lifelong resident of Charlton County. Mayor Hickox was born March 30, 1940 at the three generation Hickox family homestead to Paul Samuel and Violet Hodges Hickox.

    Hickox served the community of Homeland for 32 years. He was first elected to the Homeland City Council in 1972 by write- in ballot. He served this position until 1981. In 1992, he was appointed to fulfill an expired term on the Homeland City Council and was named Mayor Pro Tem. On November 9, 1995, he was elected Mayor, again by write-in ballot, and continued to serve as Mayor of Homeland unopposed until is death. He also served the dual role of City Manager. Under his leadership, the city of Homeland experienced rebirth and growth. Hickox fought for the city of Homeland to share in Charlton County’s local option sales tax, which most recently included a $100,000 award to Homeland. He personally wrote and acquired millions of dollars in grants for street paving and other community needs, helped inaugurate the city’s water system, an active police department, city-owned and operated residential garbage pickup, and with the help of his city council, opened a new paved access route into north Homeland.

    At his death, Hickox was Board Secretary of the Southern Georgia Regional Commission Council, which serves 18 counties in South Georgia. He served this Commission since 1997 and was Board Chairman from 2005-2007. Under this Commission, Hickox served as a board member of the Workforce Investment Board since 2006 and the Aging Advisory Council since 1998, holding the position of Board Chair since 2000. These affiliations made valuable friends for Hickox personally and for his city.

    His proudest achievement in life was his five children, whom he loved dearly, equally, and unconditionally. Each held a special place in his heart.

    Hickox is survived by a son, Ralph Austin Hickox, Jr. and wife Jamie of Jesup, Georgia; four daughters, Donna Poe and husband Howard of Darien, Georgia; Deborah Shelnutt and husband Robert of Hoschton, Georgia; Delores Todd and husband Michael of Folkston, Georgia; Deanna Robertson of Auburn, Georgia; his mother Violet Hodges Hickox of Folkston, Georgia; a brother, Harley Lee Hickox and wife Sandra of Folkston, Georgia, twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Samuel Hickox, infant brother, Samuel Eugene Hickox, and two grandsons, Austin Tyler Robertson and Matthew Curtis Gowen.

    Pallbearers are Sheriff Dobie Conner, Chief Jonathon McMillan, Sargent Perry Green, Sargent Mike King, Sargent Ed Green, and Officer Cody Davis. Honorary Pallbearers are Brad Todd, Southeast Georgia Law Enforcement Officers, Homeland City County Members, and Southern Georgia Regional Commission Board Members.

    The family will receive friends Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Shepard Funeral Home from 6pm until 8pm and request Memorial contributions be made to Heartland Hospice, 664 Scranton Road, Suite 103, Brunswick, Georgia 31520 or www.heartlandhospice.com/Brunswick. Funeral services will be Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00pm at Camp Pickney Baptist Church with Reverend Keith Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed by signing the guest registry at Shepard Funeral Home /Folkston, Georgia. Arrangements are under the direction of Shepard Funeral Home, Folkston, Georgia.
