    Thanks for the email. This is my great,great grandfather & I have a copy of his death certificate. Unfortunately, there is a roadblock with him. He never knew who his father was. We are told his father's last name was Dubberly, but we've never been able to prove it. His mother's name on the death certificate was Martha Blackburn. There is no father listed. I will be glad to send you a copy if you would like.

    William "Bill" Melton Blalock was the son of Martha Blalock who was born January 1846. Martha never married the man who fathered William. They appear in the 1870 Tattnall Co, GA census in the house of Julia Cook. Eventually Martha Blalock married Jacob Powell and they had 5 more children. Jacob and Martha are buried in Jarriel Cemetery, Tattnall Co, GA.

    It is possible William's dad was one of the local Blackburn family, but this can not be confirmed.

    Martha was the daughter of David and Elizabeth Blalock. They appear in the 1860 Tattnall Co Census with their other two children. David was born around 1810 in one of the Carolinas.

    David is my brick wall. He is listed as having a son named "Harrison". My 2nd great grandfather was William H. Blalock. I am assuming that his middle name must have been Harrison. William and Harrison have the same year of birth, and they are the only Blalock family in Tattnall Co, GA in the 1860s. William also named one of his children with the middle name harris. I have linked them as the same person. I am about 90% certain of this link. It is that 10 % that bothers me.

    Do you have any idea who David M. Blalock is? I have been trying for years to figure out who he is and where he came from. I suspect his middle name is something like Melton or Millington. That is because Martha named her son William Melton.

    STATESBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Maude E. Covington, 96, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at her residence.

    The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Chaplain Jack VanDyken and George Daunhauer officiating. Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

    Mrs. Covington, a native of Tattnall County, had retired as a beautician and was a homemaker. She was an honorary member of Order of the Eastern Star Blue Ray Chapter and a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 141, where she was former matron, and Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church, where she was a member of Cora Williams Circle, Ladies Fellowship Bible Study Class and Women's Life.

    Survivors include s son, Harold Greene, Miami; and two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

    Pallbearers will be Alvin Blalock, Edward Blalock, Wendy Hagins, Darren McCoy, Morgan Deal and Steve Deal.

    Honorary pallbearers will be members of Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church Men's Brotherhood.

    Mrs. Bessie Elizabeth Wiggins WILKES, 85, of Lake City, died early Monday morning, September 24, 2001, in the Lake City Medical Center following a brief illness.

    A native of Waycross, Georgia, Mrs. Wilkes was educated and graduated from the school system in Waycross prior to moving to Lake City in 1939. Mrs. Wilkes served as the secretary of the First Baptist Church of Lake City for forty-five years. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church and in the Charity Sunday School Class, the Wednesday Night Supper Committee and the Historical Committee of the church. Mrs. Wilkes was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

    Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death in 1985 by her husband of forty-four years, Mr. Air N. WILKES.

    Mrs. Wilkes is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles & Joanne WILKES, Columbia, South Carolina; John & Patty WILKES, Robbinsville, North Carolina; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia & Robert JOLLY, Hickory, North Carolina; a brother Charles WIGGINS (Terry), Sebring, Florida; and a sister, Mrs. Ruby DECKER of Fort Myers, Florida, Six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Wilkes will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 26, 2001, in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Carson Brittain, Rev. Robert Davis and Rev. Troy Varnum officiating.

    Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Biggs Funeral Home, 3801 S. First Street, Lake City.

    Mrs. McLain was a native of Ohoopee Toombs Area living all her life in Toombs County. She was a homemaker, a member of the Senior Citizens of Lyons, a correspondent for Blue Ridge Community, and a member of Marietta Free Will Baptist Church and Women's Auxiliary.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Pike McLain.

    Mrs. McLain is survived by one brother, William Blalock of Lyons, one sister, Hettie Anderson of Lyons, several nieces and nephews.

    Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

    The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to funeral service.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Lettice B. McLain will be conducted Monday, April 11, at 3:00 p.m., form Marietta Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Irvin Murphy officiating.

    Lyons - Mr. William McLendon Blalock age 80 of Lyons passed away Tuesday morning in the Meadows Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

    He was born in the Ohoopee Community residing in Toombs County all of his life.

    Mr. Blalock was a decorated veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany, and was of the Baptist faith.

    He was a retired farmer and retired from Toombs County Road Department as a road machine operator.

    Mr. Blalock was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years Verna Lou Blalock and five brothers and four sisters.

    Mr. Blalock is survived by three stepdaughters Kathleen Jarriel Steransky, Geraldine Jarriel Johnson and Bernadine Jarriel White all of Lyons .One grandson Archie Edenfield of Hemet, California, two granddaughters Amber Eason and Jeanna White both of Lyons. Three great-grandsons Michael, Gideon, and Jason Edenfield all of Hemet, California. One sister Hettie Anderson of Lyons, several nieces and nephews also survive.

    Visitation will be held Thursday evening May 31, 2007 from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Graveside funeral services for Mr. Blalock will be held Friday June 1, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. from the Reedy Creek Cemetery in the Blueridge Community with Reverend Gary Jones officiating.

    Alvin Blalock - BELLVILLE - Alvin Blalock, 94, died Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Camelia Health & Rehabilitation Center.

    Born in Evans County, he married the former Melrose Anderson in 1938 and moved to Statesboro. He trained in South Bend, Indiana at the Studebaker headquarters to become service manager at the Studebaker dealership in Statesboro. In 1954, he moved to Bellville and owned and operated Blalock's Garage until his retirement in 1983. He then became groundskeeper for the City of Bellville, Pinewood Christian Academy and The Claxton Bank's Bellville Branch, until he retired in 2008 at the age of 92. He served on the Bellville City Council and as Mayor Pro-Tem for 44 years. Mr. Blalock was an avid fisherman and gardener. He grew up attending Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church and, later in life he attended Bellville United Methodist Church and was a member of the Elma & Grace Hearn Sunday School Class. He was a very dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

    He was predeceased by his wife, his parents: Melton & Matie Blalock, and brothers: A.W., Leonard, Aaron & Edward Blalock.

    Deceased Name: Blalock, Leonard D.

    Claxton - Leonard D. Blalock, 85, died Sunday, February 22, 2004 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah after a short illness.

    Mr. Blalock was born in Evans County on September 29, 1918, and was a lifelong resident.

    Mr. Blalock was a successful farmer, cattleman and avid deer hunter. As a Master Farmer, he was a member of Georgia's bale and one-half cotton club as early as 1954 and District Soil and Water Conservationist in 1994. He was a member of Bellville United Methodist Church, where he has served on the Board of Trustees and Administrative Board. He was also a long-time Director of Gold Kist, Inc., and a member of Evans County Farm Bureau and the Seaboard, Flatwoods, Slater, S.C. and Southern States Hunting Clubs.

    Survivors: two sons and daughter-in-laws, David and Patsy Blalock of Vidalia and Chester and Wanda Blalock of Claxton; four sisters, Mrs. Rona Jane Wilkes, Mrs. Melba Rose, Mrs. Carolyn Rogers of Savannah and Mrs. Wyndol Smith of Gainesville, Florida; two brothers, Alvin Blalock of Bellville and Edward Blalock of Claxton; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Paula Blalock of Augusta; five grandchildren, Shane, Tim, Denise, Beth, and Becky; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley, Tyler, Cheligh, Katie and Logan. Also, surviving are several nieces and nephews and a caregiver, Melrose Jackson.

    Mr. Blalock was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Elizabeth Grier Blalock, on January 27, 2003.

    Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2004 6:00 p.m., until at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home in Claxton.

    Funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2004, 11:00 a.m. in the Bellville United Methodist Church with Reverend William David Blalock, Dr. Aubrey Alsobrook, Reverend Mike Myers and Elder Hubert Hendrix officiating.

    Mr. Blalock will lie in state at the Church one hour prior to service.

    Burial: Canoochee Cemetery.

    Pallbearers: grandsons, Tim and Shane Blalock, great-grandson Ryan Blalock: Grandsons-in-laws: Hugh Glisson, Jim my Smith, Nephews, Derrick Rogers, Jeff Wilkes, Mitch Blalock.
    Honorary Pallbearers: will be members of the Hunting Clubs in which Mr. Blalock held memberships.

    Special Honorary: Tyler and Logan Strickland.

    Rona Blalock Wilkes, 97, of Savannah, Ga. passed way on March 5, 2018. Mrs. Wilkes was born Manassas, Ga but was a life long resident of Savannah Ga. for 73 years.

    Mrs. Wilkes was also a member of the ConneXion Church of Savannah Ga. In addition, Mrs. Wilkes was also a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star-White Star Chapter #367. She also worked at Belk Savannah for 32 years, where she retired.

    Her memory will be forever treasured by her sons; Jeffery L Wilkes (Dorothy), Garry G. Wilkes (Jane) and her daughters; Marsha Etheridge (Jim Brannon), and Pamela Pianka (Clif Rice). Also, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

    Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death by her loving husband Hansel G Wilkes and also by her parents; Melton and Matie Blalock.

    Graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 12 pm on Saturday, March 10 2018. There will be a visitation an hour prior to the service. Reverend David Blalock will officiate the service. Baker McCullough Funeral Home of Savannah Ga, Hodgson Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arraignments.

    SAVANNAH - Melba Blalock Rose, 93, of Savannah and widow of Guy Rose, passed away Thursday, November 17th, 2016 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

    She was born on December 1, 1922 in Manassas, GA, the daughter of the late Melton and Mattie Blalock.

    Melba was a longtime member of Faith Primitive Baptist Church in Savannah.

    She worked for Gottleib's Bakery.

    She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers: Alvin Blalock, Leonard Blalock, Aaron Blalock, and Edward Blalock; and sister, Carolyn Rogers.

    Survivors include her daughter, Dianne Squire and her husband, Rich; son, Ricky Rose and his wife, Maureen; two sisters, Rona Wilkes and Wyndol Smith (Clyde); sister-in-law, Paula Blalock, and six grandchildren, Joe Foster (Tally), Christie Foster, Kristy Wexler (Paul) Dan Squire (Teri), Rob Squire and Ryan Squire; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Foster, Justin Foster, Addison Wexler, Brooks Wexler, Drew Wexler and Drew Squire.

    The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., Sunday, November 20th, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home - Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah.

    SAVANNAH - Carolyn Elizabeth Blalock Rogers, 87, of Savannah, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at her residence, under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc.

    She was born in Claxton, Ga. and was preceded in death by her husband, William Odis Rogers and her parents, J. Melton and Matie Blalock of Claxton, GA, her brothers, Alvin, Leonard, Aaron, and Edward Blalock.

    She was a member of Faith Primitive Baptist Church, where she was President of Faith Fellowship Circle, and she served as Pianist for the Church for many years.

    She worked for the City of Savannah for 32 years, serving as Supervisor of Ceramics, for Leisure Services.

    She is survived by two sons, T. Sidney Rogers of Savannah, GA, and O. Derrick Rogers (Sylvia) of Guyton, GA; 3 sisters, Rona Wilkes, Melba Rose, and Wyndol (Clyde) Smith all of Savannah, GA; 5 grandchildren, Darlene (James) Sheffield, Traci (David) Sapp, Jennie Rogers, Amy Rogers, and Skipper Rogers; 8 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephew.

    The family would like to thank Hospice Savannah and their professional staff, and volunteers for the extraordinary care
    provided.

    She was born in Evans County to the late Gordon B. and Ada Sapp Blalock. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rantz M. Zipperer. She was a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church, and was a homemaker.

    Survivors include her children, Rantz M. “Tiny” Zipperer, Jr. (Judy), Donna Zipperer, and Angela Zipperer (Steve Cox); grandchildren, Ricky Garland, Jason Zipperer, David “Bo” Zipperer, Randi Zipperer Wilson, Mark Zipperer, and Kailey Kitchings Mobley; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Lanier and Shirley Taylor; brother, Johnny Blalock; several nieces and nephews, and her beloved sitter, Ms. Polly Tate.

    The graveside funeral and burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery located at 3608 Midland Road, Guyton. The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 10 until 10:55 a.m.

    The Florida native was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Annette Lamb Blalock and served his country in the U.S. Army.

    He retired from Peeples Industries and he enjoyed fishing and listening to music.

    Survivors include his son, Willie L. Blalock, Jr., of Savannah; sister, Jacquelyn Shearouse of Rincon; sisters-in-law, Ethel L. She moved to Decatur 54 years ago and retired from the Met Life Insurance Company after 39 years of employment. Although, she was still a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church, Janie attended the Atlanta Primitive Baptist Church while living there. She was a member of the Heating Park Garden Club and was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold C. Davis.

    Survivors are her husband, Curtis R. Lynn of Decatur; a brother and a sister, Larry E. Collins and Myrtle F. Hart both of Collins; two step-sons, Tommy Lynn of Florida and Dan (Debbie) Lynn of Sugar Hill; step-grandchildren, Amanda and Aaron Lynn; several nieces and nephews.

    Hal Greene was born on June 4, 1926 in Savannah, GA and passed away peacefully at home in Miami, FL on December 6, 2016.

    He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy (Deal) Greene; his two daughters, Cathy Van Dyken and Michele Ver Beek; his son-in-laws, Jack Van Dyken and Dan Ver Beek; his beloved grandchildren: Emily, Jay, Caleb, Adam, Nathan, Lindsey, and his thirteen great grandchildren: Bryce, Lauren, Jaylin, Hunter, Shayna, Everett, Easton, the twins, Aiden and Audrey, Elijah, Jacob, Eli, and baby Malachi!

    Hal was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amy (Ver Beek) Brown.

    He served briefly in the Army Air Force during World War II, and played clarinet and saxophone in the 655th Army Air Force Band in Hobbs, New Mexico.

    After graduating from Armstrong College in Savannah, GA, he continued his education at the law school of the University of Miami. Graduating in 1952,

    Hal began his law practice on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. He later joined the law firm, Taylor, Brian, Buker and Greene.

    A member of the South Miami Kiwanis Club for more than 25 years, Hal served in many of their community projects, and as President. He served on the school board at Westminster Christian School, where Dottie was an Art teacher, and the alma mater of his daughters. Hal was an avid golfer, and rarely missed a weekly round with his golfing buddies. He was a long time member of Kendall Presbyterian Church, serving the church as Deacon and Elder for several terms and as council to the church on legal matters. Hal loved his family deeply and admired the artistic talents of his wife, Dottie. He was known to share the successes of Dottie, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to anyone who would listen.

    A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 pm at the Kendall Presbyterian Church, 8485 SW 112th Street, Miami, FL.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kendall Presbyterian Church.

    Lee Roy Cason, Jr., 65, of Blackshear died Wednesday (October 18, 2017) at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Cason was born in Waycross to the late Lee Roy Cason, Sr. and Mary Evelyn Vaughn and had lived most of his life in Waycross and Blackshear. He was a truck driver, but his passion was music. He started out playing the guitar, but became an exceptional bass player later in his life. Whether it be playing at his house or playing the guitar at Bible Heritage Church he found comfort in entertaining others with the sound of music.

    Mr. Cason is survived by a daughter, Crystal Brophy of Hoover, AL; a brother, Chester Cason (Sharon) of Daytona Beach, FL; numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.

    A memorial service will be held Saturday (Nov. 11, 2017) at 11 am at Bible Heritage Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

    Honorary pallbearers will be Haywood Baptist Church Men's Ministry with Carpenters and should meet at the church by 10:40 am for the service.

    Dad, I'm sorry that we never got a chance to hang out other than the 2 times that I met you. I regret that we lost touch after only a few years of writing one another. I will miss you so much even though I never really knew you. I'm glad that you at least got to meet your granddaughter once, but it should have been a lot more than just once. I hate that I wasn't there for you when you needed someone to look after you. I will always live with that regret. I appreciate your neighbors Carla and TJ so much for doing what they could for you and Susan as well. I'm glad that you did have people to help you, I just wished that it could have been me. I felt like somewhat of an outcast at your memorial on Saturday. Surrounded by all of these people who knew you, adored you and loved you. I only wished that I too could have known you. We would have gotten along so well together. We both have such a great love for music and cats. My mother always told me that I am a lot like you. If only we got to know one another the way we should have. I cried when I looked through your family photo album and found pictures of me growing up and of my family and your granddaughter.     Reedus Norman Burnham, 75, a resident of Lake City, Florida passed away February 17, 2011 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Florida. Mr. Burnham was a lifelong resident of Lake City, Florida and is the son of the late Homer Leland and Oda Lucille Danley Burnham. Mr. Burnham was a member of the camera club in Lake City and Branford. He was also a member of the Geri Actors club at the Senior Enrichment Center, Lake City, Fl. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, Lake City.

    He is preceded in death by a daughter, Norma June Burnham.

    Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, June Burnham, Lake City, Fl. Two daughters: Ellen (Mitch) Downing and Kathy Burnham both of Lake City, Fl.. One sister: Ellen Cavins, Illinois. Seven grandchildren, Alisa (Ben) Keen, Steve (Becky) Downing, Patricia (C.J.) Ford, Ashley Lord, Austin Lord, Leslie (Steve) Nettles and Brittany Charles. Nine Great grandchildren also survive.

    Memorial services for Mr. Burnham will be conducted Monday, February 21, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. in the Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Glen Lawhon and the Rev. Ray Shaw, officiating.

    Interment will be at a later date.

    Charles Lynn, 60, of Collins, died early Wednesday morning at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.

    Born in Cobbtown, he was the son of William Harold Lynn and Sue Nell Powell Lynn. He was retired from Register Insulation and was of the Baptist Faith. Charles loved fishing and sports and especially Nascar Racing. He was a wonderful Pop and his favorite thing to do was spend time with his granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Billy, and Stevie Lynn and his sister, Wanda Lynn Sanders.

    Surviving are his daughter, Casey Lynn (Michael) Plamondon of Statesboro; his son, Cale Lynn of Cobbtown; his forever wife, Carla Bland Lynn; a brother, Clyde(Karen) Lynn of Collins; two sisters, Dianne (George) Holland of Cobbtown and Leisa Smith of Collins; a granddaughter, Ellasyn Plamondon; and several nieces and nephews.

    Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.

    The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel with Rev. Larry Hightower officiating.

    Interment will follow in Collins Baptist Church Cemetery.

    Chester Grier Blalock - CLAXTON - Chester Grier Blalock, age 63, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack, at his home near Manassas, Tuesday night, February 17, 2009. Mr. Blalock was a life long resident of Evans County. He was a successful farmer, cattleman and an avid deer hunter. His family and friends were always at the top of the list of things for which he was thankful. He was a member of the Bellville United Methodist Church. He was the "Young Farmer of the Year" for Evans County in the past. He was "2007 Conservationist of the Year" in soil and water and he has served for several years as a committee member of the Farm Service Agency for Evans County. He held membership in the Seaboard, Cedar Creek and Flat Woods Hunting Club.

    Mr. Blalock was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Willie Blalock.

    Survivors: his wife, Wanda Blalock of Claxton; one son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Betty Blalock of Claxton; two daughters and son-in-laws, Beth and Jimmy Smith of Claxton; Denise and John Vordermeier of Vero Beach Fl.; one brother and sister-in-law, Rev.     He was the former owner/operator of Parts & Service Unlimited.

    He enjoyed fishing, hot-rodding, and will always be remembered as a Ford Man.

    Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and James Sheffield, and Traci and David Sapp; grandchildren, Courtney and Logan; brother, Sidney Rogers, and several nieces and nephews.

    The visitation will be on Saturday from 2 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.

He enjoyed helping people, stock car racing, livestock, taking care of the goats, lambs, and pigs. He enjoyed watching football and baseball.

    Survivors include his wife, Phyllis S. Blalock; daughter and son-in-law, Alison Lynn Tyler & Michael J. Tyler; sister, Gwendolyn Winters; brother, Joe Blalock and several nieces and nephews.
    The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

    died Oct. 21, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his family.

    The Wayne County native was a member and former interim pastor of Spring Grove Free Will Baptist Church. While in retirement, he served as interim pastor of several local churches. He was a U.S. Army veteran, retired Rayonier employee, and member of IBEW Union. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and winning people to the Lord.

    He was predeceased by his parents, Lewis and Bertie Cowart.

    Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Janice Ratliff Cowart of Jesup; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Mack McLain of Jesup; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ken and Kim Cowart and Kevin Cowart of Jesup; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Sharon Cowart and Billy and Marilyn Cowart of Jesup; 11 grandchildren, Brittanie Chappel, Kevin Cowart II, Elena Sloan, Deacon Cowart, Chandler Cowart, Kalynn Johnson, Lily Cowart, Maggie Cowart, Kenley Cowart, Jonathan Cowart and Caleb Cowart; three great-grandchildren, Calania Sloan, Desmond and Devin Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral service were held Oct. 24 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harris Nix and the Rev. Kipp Manning officiating along with American Legion Post No. 311 presenting the American flag.

    Interment was in Offerman Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Larry Christian, Jerry Brooker, Shelby Hart, Kevin Cowart, Kevin Cowart II and Robert Sheffield.

    Honorary pallbearers were members of Spring Grove Adult Sunday School Classes and special caregiver, Rachel Stevens.

    Chief Randell "Randy" Burnham, 53, of Lake City passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Shands At UF.

    A native and lifelong resident of Lake City, Randy was the son of Randell Arthur Burnham and Erma Lee Mershon, and was a graduate of Columbia High School Class of 1986. He was the Chief of the Lake City Fire Department and incredibly passionate about his career of 32 years and his Fire Department family. His favorite times were spent with his loving wife and family and enjoyed being a "Papa". He was a true friend to everyone he met and never met a stranger. In his spare time, he enjoyed taking trips with his wife, hunting, fishing, camping, and creating the most manicured yard.

    Randy was preceded in death by his father, Randell Arthur Burnham.

    Randy is survived by his wife, Marsha Burnham; sons, Brent Burnham (Marisa) and Deven Burnham (Courtni); mother, Erma Lee Mershon Burnham; brother, Andrew Burnham (Angie); sisters, Cindy Duke (Wayne) and Windy Burnham; grandchildren, Lawson Burnham and Blayton Chancey; brother in law, Greg "Turkey" Waldron (Miranda); father and mother in law, Greg and Shirley Waldron; several nieces and nephews also survive.

    Funeral services for Chief Burnham will be held at Christian Fellowship Church on HWY 240 on Friday, September 10, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Mike Tatem officiating.

    Interment will follow at Corinth Cemetery.

    Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon at the Lake City Fire Department.

    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Grandchildren of Randy & Marsha Burnham at First Federal Bank.
