Sylvester Odean Roper 88, of Eatonton passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013.
Mr. Odean as he was known, was born in Franklin, North Carolina on April 29, 1924 to the late Earnest A. Roper and Zadie Wilkes Roper.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Betty Roper and also three sons Eddie, Bob and Wade Roper.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 5th at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel from 1 PM to 3 PM.
Services will be at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel at 3 PM, burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery following the services.
Mr. Odean was retired from Georgia State Department of Transportation, and was a long time camp host at Sinclair Lake and Tate Branch in Clayton, Georgia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and listening to his dogs run.
He is survived by his sons; Sidney Barney Roper, of Conley, Ga. and Olan Roper and his wife Maria of Duluth, a sister Iona Cargile of Covington, daughter in law Donna Roper of Buford, Ga., 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
