Ronnie E. Cason, 73, died last night in Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

He was a native of Tattnall County, the son of the late Emmett Gail Cason and Bessie Powell Cason.

He was a free lance painter.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Isabel Creel Cason, Waycross; one foster daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Brunstein, Thomasville; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Bryson, Waycross, and Mrs. Kate Hill, Kissimmee, Fla.; one brother LeRoy Cason, Waycross; four foster grandchildren.

Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow in the Mincy-Fulford chapel. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock and at the residence.

Mrs. Bessie Elizabeth Wiggins WILKES, 85, of Lake City, died early Monday morning, September 24, 2001, in the Lake City Medical Center following a brief illness.

A native of Waycross, Georgia, Mrs. Wilkes was educated and graduated from the school system in Waycross prior to moving to Lake City in 1939. Mrs. Wilkes served as the secretary of the First Baptist Church of Lake City for forty-five years. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church and in the Charity Sunday School Class, the Wednesday Night Supper Committee and the Historical Committee of the church. Mrs. Wilkes was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death in 1985 by her husband of forty-four years, Mr. Air N. WILKES.

Mrs. Wilkes is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles & Joanne WILKES, Columbia, South Carolina; John & Patty WILKES, Robbinsville, North Carolina; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia & Robert JOLLY, Hickory, North Carolina; a brother Charles WIGGINS (Terry), Sebring, Florida; and a sister, Mrs. Ruby DECKER of Fort Myers, Florida, Six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilkes will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 26, 2001, in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Carson Brittain, Rev. Robert Davis and Rev. Troy Varnum officiating.

Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Biggs Funeral Home, 3801 S. First Street, Lake City.

Lee Roy Cason, Jr., 65, of Blackshear died Wednesday (October 18, 2017) at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Cason was born in Waycross to the late Lee Roy Cason, Sr. and Mary Evelyn Vaughn and had lived most of his life in Waycross and Blackshear. He was a truck driver, but his passion was music. He started out playing the guitar, but became an exceptional bass player later in his life. Whether it be playing at his house or playing the guitar at Bible Heritage Church he found comfort in entertaining others with the sound of music.

Mr. Cason is survived by a daughter, Crystal Brophy of Hoover, AL; a brother, Chester Cason (Sharon) of Daytona Beach, FL; numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held Saturday (Nov. 11, 2017) at 11 am at Bible Heritage Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Haywood Baptist Church Men's Ministry with Carpenters and should meet at the church by 10:40 am for the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Miles-Odum Funeral Home, 130 Screven Avenue, Waycross, GA 31501.

Dad, I'm sorry that we never got a chance to hang out other than the 2 times that I met you. I regret that we lost touch after only a few years of writing one another. I will miss you so much even though I never really knew you. I'm glad that you at least got to meet your granddaughter once, but it should have been a lot more than just once. I hate that I wasn't there for you when you needed someone to look after you. I will always live with that regret. I felt like somewhat of an outcast at your memorial on Saturday. Surrounded by all of these people who knew you, adored you and loved you. I only wished that I too could have known you. We would have gotten along so well together. We both have such a great love for music and cats. My mother always told me that I am a lot like you. If only we got to know one another the way we should have. I cried when I looked through your family photo album and found pictures of me growing up and of my family and your granddaughter. That was comforting. I love you dad and I will miss you.

Virginia was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, her Savior after a brief affliction. She left this earthly kingdom the way she lived gentle, kind and loving. Left to remember her love is daughter Erin (David) Todd of Woodlawn, VA, grandson Jason (Fiona) Todd, great grandsons Ellis and George Todd of Kunshan, China, brothers Charles (Joanne) Wilkes of Chapin, SC and John (Patty) Wilkes of Lake City, FL.

She will be missed by loyal friend Janet Burham of Pfafftown, NC and many others. Virginia had a way of reaching the heart of many with her love of Jesus. Her mission to love others well and shine her Savior's light, which has been accomplished. She has now heard the words "Well done, thou good and faithful servant...enter into the joy of thou Lord."

A service of remembrance will be held at the Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel in Newton, NC on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at 2 pm. Burial will be in Lake City, FL at Memorial Cemetery at a later date.

Reedus Norman Burnham

Reedus Norman Burnham, 75, a resident of Lake City, Florida passed away February 17, 2011 at the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Florida. Mr. Burnham was a lifelong resident of Lake City, Florida and is the son of the late Homer Leland and Oda Lucille Danley Burnham. Mr. Burnham was a member of the camera club in Lake City and Branford. He was also a member of the Geri Actors club at the Senior Enrichment Center, Lake City, Fl. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, Lake City.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Norma June Burnham.

Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, June Burnham, Lake City, Fl. Two daughters: Ellen (Mitch) Downing and Kathy Burnham both of Lake City, Fl.. One sister: Ellen Cavins, Illinois. Seven grandchildren, Alisa (Ben) Keen, Steve (Becky) Downing, Patricia (C.J.) Ford, Ashley Lord, Austin Lord, Leslie (Steve) Nettles and Brittany Charles. Nine Great grandchildren also survive.

Memorial services for Mr. Burnham will be conducted Monday, February 21, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. in the Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Glen Lawhon and the Rev. Ray Shaw, officiating.

Interment will be at a later date.

Chief Randell "Randy" Burnham, 53, of Lake City passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Shands At UF.

A native and lifelong resident of Lake City, Randy was the son of Randell Arthur Burnham and Erma Lee Mershon, and was a graduate of Columbia High School Class of 1986. He was the Chief of the Lake City Fire Department and incredibly passionate about his career of 32 years and his Fire Department family. His favorite times were spent with his loving wife and family and enjoyed being a "Papa". He was a true friend to everyone he met and never met a stranger. In his spare time, he enjoyed taking trips with his wife, hunting, fishing, camping, and creating the most manicured yard.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Randell Arthur Burnham.

Randy is survived by his wife, Marsha Burnham; sons, Brent Burnham (Marisa) and Deven Burnham (Courtni); mother, Erma Lee Mershon Burnham; brother, Andrew Burnham (Angie); sisters, Cindy Duke (Wayne) and Windy Burnham; grandchildren, Lawson Burnham and Blayton Chancey; brother in law, Greg "Turkey" Waldron (Miranda); father and mother in law, Greg and Shirley Waldron; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Chief Burnham will be held at Christian Fellowship Church on HWY 240 on Friday, September 10, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Mike Tatem officiating.

Interment will follow at Corinth Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon at the Lake City Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Grandchildren of Randy & Marsha Burnham at First Federal Bank.
