    Earl was married to Anna Marguerite Kirkland on June 1, 1945 of Macclenny, FL. For sixty-one years, she was his priceless gift and together they built a life of loving, sharing, and caring.

    He gave security, love and opportunity to his children: Elizabeth (Don) Philpot of Atlanta, GA, Earl Eugene Waters II of Homosassa, FL and Lisa (Keith) Hill of Windermere, FL. He took great joy in his grandchildren: Christopher (Karla Bourne) Hilton, Kelly (Patrick ) Hefner, Clark Hilton, Tiffany Waters, Ryan Hill, Bryce Hill, Shane Hill, and Racquel Hill. He was great-grandfather to: Toby Hilton, Taylor Hilton, Troy Hefner and Wynter Hefner.

    Earl served in the U.S. Navy and was given an honorable discharge in 1946. He enjoyed wearing his WWII veteran's cap and loved the American flag.

    He and his family resided in Lake City, Florida from 1953 to present. He whole-heartedly loved Lake City and the surrounding areas as the "very best place" to live. Earl was a dedicated member and Priesthood holder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many callings for the church. He especially revered his callings in the Salt Lake City Temple, the Atlanta Temple and the Orlando Temple. He felt that his service in the Lord's temples was an honor, a joy and the pinnacle of all of his church callings.

    He loved a good story and was a gifted storyteller, bringing smiles and laughter to his family and others.

    Earl loved his home state of North Carolina and although, many years have passed since he stood behind a mule and plowed that beautiful tar-hill soil, he still thought of himself as just "a poor plow-boy from North Carolina". He was and is "some kind of good"! He will forever be remembered and loved by his family.

    Funeral services will be held 10am, Friday, February 6, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Olympia Ward Chapel, 3001 S. Apopka -Vineland Rd., Orlando, Fl 32835. A burial service will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Gotha, FL 34734. A memorial service will be held at 11am, Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at the LDS Lake City Ward Chapel, 706 SE Country Club Rd., Lake City, FL 32025
