    William C. Wood N. CHARLESTON - Entered into eternal rest on Sunday April 8, 2012, Mr. William C. Wood, 80, husband of Doris Wood. Residence North Charleston, SC.

    The relatives and friends of Mr. William Wood are invited to attend his graveside services on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at ten o'clock a.m. at Plantation Memorial Park.

    William was born June 6, 1932 in Dublin, GA, to the late Elbert Wood and Sybol Wilkes Wood. He had served his country in the U.S. Air Force in aircraft maintenance, retiring after 26 years service, then went to work for Hawthorne Aviation, retiring again.

    William loved his community, fishing and gardening. He loved giving to the people of his community, especially fish and his Hot peppers! He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

    He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris Wood, a son; Timothy Wood of Charleston, SC, a daughter; Rena Wood Jones of Ladson, SC, 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, a brother; Jerry Wood of Macon, GA, and sisters; Mary Jackson of Gray, GA, Betty Gray of Warner Robbins, GA, Peggy Ray of Panama City, FL.

    Fred Wood, 78, of Panama City, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at a local nursing facility.

    Fred was born in Rockledge, GA, and had lived in Panama City since 1976. He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant after 25 years in the US Air Force, serving during Korea and Vietnam. After his military service, Fred worked in the Supply Department for Civil Service at Tyndall Air Force Base.

    He was a longtime, faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Parker, where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Training Union Director for many years. Fred was a student of the Bible and a prayer warrior, always faithful to pray for family and friends. His greatest joy was time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Sybol Wood, and a sister, Shirley Spires.

    Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyn Wood of Panama City; his children, Sherrell D. Wolter and husband Davy of Star Prairie, WI, Shannon Wood-Williams of Panama City and Fred "Sean" Wood, II and wife Elizabeth of Knoxville, TN; his brother and sisters, William C. Wood of Charleston, SC, Betty Gray of Warner Robbins, GA, Peggie Ray of Panama City, Mary Jackson of Gray , GA, and Jerry Wood of Macon, GA; his grandchildren, Nathan Gregory Williams, Bethany Leann Wood, Shawna Rose Wood, Rachel Grace Wood and Sarah Faith Wood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    A funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Parker with Rev. Craig Walker officiating. Entombment with full military honors by the US Air Force will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from Noon until service time at 2:00 PM Saturday. Flowers will be accepted, or contributions in Fred's name may be made to the First Baptist Church of Parker, 4630 E. Business Hwy 98, Panama City, FL 32404.

    Betty Gray, 78, entered into rest on Saturday, July 5, 2014. Betty was born on January 23, 1936 in Dublin, Georgia.

    She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Betty retired from Robins Air Force Base after twenty-five years as an Electronics Technician. She loved shopping and spending time with her family.

    Her husband, James Deaver Gray, her daughter, Sara LaVon Courtney, and her parents, Elbert and Sybil Wood, all preceded her in death. Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Jamie Gray; Vicky Hart; Valerie Gray; son-in-law, Mike Courtney (Sara LaVon Courtney), all of Warner Robins; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

    Visitation will be Monday, July 7, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.

    Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Southside Baptist Church with interment following in Parkway Memorial Gardens.

    The family will greet friends from 10:00 - 11:00am, Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Elam Baptist Church. Memorial services will follow in the church sanctuary. Rev. Gary Thomas will officiate.

    Mrs. Jackson was born August 16, 1940, in Laurens County and had lived in Jones County for the past forty-three years. She was the daughter of the late Elbert Wood and Sybil Wilkes Wood. Mrs. Jackson was a member of Elam Baptist Church where she taught the youth sunday school class.

    Mrs. Jackson is survived by her husband: Amos Franklin Jackson of Gray; son: Frankie Jackson, Jr. of Gray; daughter: Christine Suma of Gray; brother: Jerry Wood of Macon; sister: Peggy Ray of Panama City, Florida; grandchildren: Jake Jackson, Kevin Jackson and Adam Schaflauer.

    In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Elam Baptist Church 203 Elam Church Road, Gray, Georgia 31032.

    Bridges Funeral Home and Crematory in Gray has charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Spires, the daughter of the late Elbert Wood and Sybol Wilkes Wood, was born in Macon on October 14, 1942, and had lived in Jones County area her entire life. She was a graduate of Dudley M. Hughes High School in Macon and was a homemaker. A member of Bradley Baptist Church, Mrs. Shirley was the best wife, mother, sibling, Christian and friend that anyone could ever hope to have in their life. She was loved by everyone who ever met her and she will be missed greatly.

    Mrs. Spires is survived by her husband of forty-eight years: Daniel A. Spires; her children: David Spires and Christy Spires; grandsons: Nathan Spires and Brandon Spires; brothers: C. W. Wood, Fred Wood and Jerry Wood; sisters: Peggy Ray, Betty Gray and Mary Jackson; and by her dogs: Casper, Pig and Buddy.
