Charles Leon Williams, Sr., 90, of Winter Haven, FL passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Hospice Forsythe Hospice House in Auburndale.

Born November 29, 1925 in Lake Butler, FL he was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as an Army Ranger. He worked for Laundry Textile Company, was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Haines City Ward. Was a member of the Winter Haven Moose Lodge and was a member of the American Legion Post 8 in Winter Haven.

He is survived by: his wife of 66 years, Wanuase; a son, Charles Leon Williams, Jr and his wife Glenda of Auburndale; 2 daughters, Glynda Jean Latham of Winter Haven and Sherri Denise Stewart and her husband Mark of Auburndale; a brother, James Curtis Williams of Lake City, FL a sister, Dorothy Alma Williams of The Villages, FL; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am till 11:00am, Monday, July 11, 2016 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven.

James Curtis Williams, 96 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019, at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. He was born and raised in Union County, Florida to the late George Williams and Alma Raulerson Williams. Mr. Williams had lived most of his life in Lake City and had worked for Nettles Sausage for 30 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and attended the Price Creek Ward. Mr. Williams loved to work on the farm, fishing, hunting, dancing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Iris Dicks Williams in 2005, one son, Larry Wayne Williams, Sr., 2012, one great-great granddaughter, Lakelee Ryan Perkins in 2019 and 7 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his children, Jackson Williams, Lake City, Curry Williams (Kim), Branford and Iris Lackey (Larry), Lake City; one sister, “Dottie”, the Villages, FL; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Old Country Club Road. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Union County. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Kitty fulfilled her wishes to see the world. She was known for elegant and gourmet cooking, and master bridge playing. She never forgot where she grew up and loved her family in Florida and always gave much love and support to her children. Kitty spent her last years among wonderful friends.

Charles "Willis" Duren, (86) returned to his Heavenly Father on the 31st of March, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Winford Duren and Olla Rebecca Duren; 4 brothers, Odest, Seeber, Leonard & Alvin; 2 sisters, Betty Williams & Audrey Callahan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rachel Colson Duren. Willis and Rachel have 4 children, Connie Williams (Kelly), Julie Dailey (Lin), Charles Duren Jr. (Valerie) and Gary Duren. Their posterity includes 4 grandchildren, BriAnna McGehee, Troy Williams (Joy), Eric Williams (Amyee) and Sarah-Anne Duren and 8 great grandchildren all living within the Jacksonville area.

Willis was born in Okahumpka, FL. on the 15th of May, 1927. At the age of 7 he and his family moved to Fort White, FL. which he called home. He honorably served his country in the 1st calvary division during World War II. He married Rachel, the love of his life on October 31, 1953. The family moved to Jacksonville where Willis worked for the Department of Transportation for 42 years as they raised their family. Brother Duren was a faithful lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings.

Alvin was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He worked with Merita Bread Company for 37 years and retired in 1985.

He was preceded in death by his son, Lavon E. Duren.

Audrey Faye Duren Callahan of Lake City died Thursday at E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville. She was 67.

A native of Fort White, Mrs. Callahan was a 1954 graduate of Fort White High School. She returned to live in Lake City from Macon, Ga., in 1988.

Mrs. Callahan worked as a linotype operator at the Lake City Reporter and for the Eli Witt Co. While living in Macon, she worked for the Coliseum Park Hospital.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and loved cooking and gardening.

Survivors include daughters Becky Wilder of Fort White, Rhonda Porter of Macon and Teresa Hayes; a son, Kenneth Callahan of Nashville; brothers Willis Duren of Jacksonville and Alvin Duren of Orange Park; a sister, Betty Williams of Eagle Point, Ore.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Ms. Blanche Douglas Strickland, 93, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 17, 2016 at the Baya Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, under the care of Hospice of the Nature Coast in Lake City after a long life.

She was born in LuLu on March 3, 1922 to the late Arley A. Douglas and Susan Williams Douglas. She was a life-long resident of Lake City, she also spent some time in Savannah, Georgia and Norfolk, Virginia areas. Her family was one of the pioneer families of Union County. She was a Restaurant Manager for many years and in her spare time she enjoyed gardening, fishing and canning. She was a member of the Eastern Star Grace Chapter in Wellborn and was of the Baptist faith.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband(s): Larimore Summerville of Thirty-Eight years, Edward Markham of fifteen years and Raymond Strickland of seven years; daughter: Susan S. Ourso; step-daughter: Sharon Gable; and special nephew: Anthony Douberly.

She is survived by her loving children: daughters: Betty Holliday, Celia (Charlie) Douberly and Sandra O’Neal all of Lake City, FL; nieces: Janice (Wendell) Combs of Taylor, FL, Pat Douberly and Linda Sue Walker both of Lake City, FL; step-son: Terry (Dottie) Summerville of Atlanta, GA; nephews: Kenneth Douberly, Gary Douberly and Bo (Dorothy) Douberly of Trenton, FL along with niece-in-law: Becky Douberly. Grandchildren: Amber Feagle, Mayse (Lisa) Holliday, Andrew M. (Dana) Gaylard along with great-grandchildren: Chelsea (Randy) Watson, Drew Gaylard, Max Gaylard and Dara Gaylard also survive. The family would also like to give a special thanks to their mothers loving and devoted caregiver: Debra Selbe.

Funeral services for Ms. Strickland will be conducted on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home with Rev. Bob DeSantis officiating.

Interment will follow in Douglas Cemetery in Union County. The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, February 19, 2016 in the chapel of the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Edith Mae Bryan Foster, 94 of Wellborn, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.

She was born in Lulu, Florida the third child of seven to the late Henry Clemons and Bertie Williams Clemons. Mrs. Foster had made Wellborn her home for the past 60 years. She was of the Baptist faith and had previously attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mrs. Foster enjoyed gardening and taking care of her home and family.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Justin Bryan and J.W. Foster and five siblings, Evelyn Saunders, Gertrude Griffis, Estelle Sanders, Joe Clemons and Annie Simmons.

Survivors include her four children, Justin Bryan (Brenda), Judy Woods (Wilbur) and Curtis Bryan (Pamela) all of Wellborn and Holly Walker (Marty), O’Brien; one brother, Henry Clemons, Jr., Lake City; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Juanita Elizabeth Hood, 82, of Fruitland Park, FL passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

Born in Okahumpka, Florida, she was a resident of Central Florida most of her life. Juanita worked hard her entire life. Born into a hardscrabble time, she starting working as a child with her parents, Carl S. & Maude L. Williams, of Leesburg, FL. They traveled the Eastern Seaboard as migrant farm workers. She was whip smart, becoming the first in her family to complete high school when she graduated from Winter Haven HS in 1956.

At age 21, she married the love of her life, William E. "Bill" Hood. They spent over 43 years together until his passing. She was always hands on, she worked for decades doing things such as manufacturing thermometers, repairing telephones and cable boxes. She finished up her work years with the Walton company, first at Bud's, then WalMart. She lived her life fearlessly, and with grace. She could jump on a plane just as easy as hopping into her truck and just driving. She enjoyed life, she was an avid reader, quilting, crochet, and listening to country music.

She is survived by her Daughter, Cindy Hood of Fruitland Park, FL; Grandchildren; Donny Reger, Margaret Reger, and Danielle Reger, all of Eustis, FL, and Corrina Reger of Valdosta, GA; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

Services will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM.

Iva Kathleen Douglass Cason 85, of Ft. White passed away December 8th at her home after an extended illness. She was born in Polk City, FL, then living her life in Ft. White, FL. She was the daughter of the late James Riley Douglass and Loca Bell Williams Cason.

She was also preceded in death by her husband James Eugene Cason.

She was a Cadet Nurse at Camp Blanding for several years, and retired from Southern Bell in 1981 where she was a telephone operator. She is a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Lake Butler and First Female President of the Lions Club. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Branford Ward.

She is survived by her Daughters: Iva Jean Cason Dukes of Ft. White: Mary Sue Hamilton-Harpe of Newberry and Oweida Harrell of Ft. White.

Sons: Douglas Eugene Cason (Wanda) of Lake Butler; and Joseph Brett Cason (Diane) of Ft. White, 16 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grand Children and 2 Great Great Grand children.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 A.M. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Lake Butler Ward. Bishop Robert Cabril will be conducting the services.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

*Rodney D. Tucker, a former resident of Lake Butler, died Monday after a brief illness. He was 63.

Mr. Tucker was born in Lake Butler, where he lived most of his life until moving to Texas in 1980. He was an electronic technician with People's Telephone, and a ham radio operator. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mr. Hugh Wesley Roberts, 79, of Lake Butler, Florida, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, January 5, 2019, at his residence.

A native and longtime resident of Union County, Florida, Mr. Roberts was the son of the late Charlie Freeman Roberts and Martha Williams Roberts.

A 1957 Graduate of Union County High School, Mr. Roberts went on to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Florida and a Master's Degree from Florida State University both in Education. He did, however, remain a faithful Florida Gator fan.

Mr. Roberts married the former Beverly Ann Stanton in 1968 and together they raised their four children. They enjoyed living and working in Tallahassee, West Palm Beach, and Gainesville before ultimately returning to serve in the administration division of the Union County School Board prior to retiring in 2003.

He was an avid numismatist, having bought and sold foreign coins for many years. Mr. Roberts was first and foremost a family man. All he ever wanted to be was a “Papa”; and he was a marvelous one to all eighteen of his much beloved grandchildren. He was an active member of the Lake Butler Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints prior to his ill health.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife of almost 51 years, Beverly Stanton Roberts; his children, Pam Roberts Parrish (Milton) of Lake Butler; Tim Roberts (Amy), Fernandina Beach, FL; Karen Poirier of Gainesville and Jennifer Newman (Jeremy) of Lake Butler; a sister, Sandra Wade (Rusty) of Lake Butler two mothers-in-law, Mary Lou Stanton and Lucy May Davis both of Battle Creek, Michigan and all of his eighteen grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Roberts will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Lake Butler with Bishop Paul Waters conducting.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Union County.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Tuesday evening at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to either Haven Hospice of Lake City or Hugh’s favorite charity, St Jude Children’s Hospital.

Mr. Roy David Bagley, 72, of Branford, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville from complications after heart surgery.

He was born October 15, 1942 in Union County, Florida to the late Clarence and Eunice Williams Bagley.

Mr. Bagley was raised in the Lake City area and graduated from Columbia High School class of 1960 and served in the United States Army from 1965-1967, having served in the Military Police.

He started driving semi-trucks at the age of sixteen for his father. He would haul produce for his dad as far away at the “Big Apple”, New York City, without the use of GPS or cell phones. Years later he would begin his own business, “Bagley Trucking”, in Lake City and eventually moving his business to Branford where he resided most of his life. When his children, Karri and Tim, were very young, they would go with him on his long truck hauls. Karri remembers many of those long rides with her dad and said, "It seemed like they would last for weeks and weeks," but she would not trade that time spent with him for anything.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was currently the Bishop of the Branford Ward in Branford, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Lewis Bagley.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Margaret Odom Bagley; daughter, Karri Sullivan (Kevin); son, Tim Bagley (Angie) all of Branford; six grandchildren, Kyli, Kara and Kenzi Holtzclaw, Tim and Taylor Bagley and Amy Sullivan; and three sisters, Betty Jane Joyner, Ormond Beach, Patsy Summers (Charles), Lake City and Geri Roberts (Jim), Branford.

Funeral services will be conducted (TODAY), Friday, May 29, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Branford Ward in Branford, FL with President Joshua Smith of the Lake City Stake presiding.

Patsy Ramona Bagley Summers, 83 of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville with her family by her side.

She was born on October 7, 1937 in Providence, Florida to the late Clarence Bagley and Eunice Williams Bagley and had been a longtime resident of Lake City. Mrs. Summers was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was attending the Price Creek Ward in Lake City. Through the years, Sister Summers held many callings in the church. She was full of compassionate service and truly loved serving others in many ways, especially by cooking her chicken and rice. Mrs. Summers was a loving mother and example to her children, a wonderful mother-in-law and a second mother to all of her children’s friends through the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Charles Leslie Summers; two sons, Brett Summers in December 1978 and Darrell Summers, August 2021; one grandson, Leslie Summerlin; and two brothers, Roy D. Bagley and Louis Bagley.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery in Union County. Interment will follow. A walk through visitation for the community will be Sunday afternoon, August 29, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the funeral home and will also be available via face book live by visiting Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Face book. Mr. Jessie Drue Williams, Jr., age 71, of Lake City, Florida died Friday, April 5, in the V.A. Medical Center, Lake City, Florida following an extended illness.

Mr. Williams was born in Lake City, Florida and lived in Lakeland, Florida before moving back to Lake City many years ago. He worked and retired as electrician with PCS, White Springs, Florida for over thirty years. He was a Vietnam Army veteran and was an avid fox hunter and was inducted into the Florida State Fox Hunters Hall of Fame in 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie D. and Jeanette M. Waters Williams, Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Williams of Lake City, Florida; Two daughters, Dana (Donald) Jacoby of Lakeland, Florida and Kelly (Charles) Brackin of White Springs, Florida; Two sons, Brian Williams and Tyler Williams both of Lake City, Florida; One sister, Sharon (John) Harris of Homosassa, Florida; one brother, Chuck Jeff) Floyd of Lake Butler, Florida; Ten grandchildren also survive.

Boilermakers Union and loved fishing, hunting, camping at Horseshoe Beach, Fla. and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother Iva Iris Dicks Williams and a sister-in-law Mary Lou Williams.

Mrs. Mary Frances Amerson, age 81, of Lake City, Fla. died Friday, Dec. 21, in the Baya Point Nursing and Rehab, Lake City, Fla. following a long illness.

She was born in Oka Humpka, Fla. and resided in Lake City from 1935 to 1950 and then until 1990 she followed her husbands military career. She returned to Lake City in 1990 to enjoy her retirement. She spent many years traveling, was in Germany for six years, working at J.C. Pennys in Altanta, Ga. for ten years, and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the First Advent Christian Church of Lake City. She was the daughter of the late Seth Samuel Nettles, the original founder of Nettles Sausage Company, and the late Mabel Beartrice Shaw Nettles.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Amerson of Lake City, Fla.: Two daughters, Janet K. Burdette of Jacksonville, Fla. and Melissa D. (Michael Pintar) Amerson of Tucson, Az.: One son, Samuel T. Albert Earl Nettles, 77 of Lake City, passed from this life on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at his home. He was born in Union County to the late Seth and Mabel Shaw Nettles. Mr. Nettles was raised in Lake City and was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1964. He worked for the Florida Department of Transportation and retired with 39 years of employment. Mr. Nettles was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and attended the Price Creek Ward in Lake City. He loved to serve in his church and attending the temple.

Mr. Nettles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 37 years, Kristine Box Stiles; wife Glenda Bryant; his brothers, Charles Nettles and Joe Nettles; his sisters, Mary Frances Amerson, Sara Kate Hygema and Caroline Pierce.

Survivors include his wife, Angela Nettles, Lake City; his children, Dorinda Feasel (Rob), Earlene Nettles (Daniel Lee), Mickel Stiles (Janet) and Ricky Stiles all of Lake City; his brother, Sammy Nettles (Gail), Lake City; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Marilyn Nettles Little, age 77, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family who had lovingly cared for her during her illness of the past several months. She was born in Okahumpka, Florida on November 15, 1933 to the late Rosa Lee Shaw Nettles and William Jackson Nettles and moved to Columbia County with her parents at an early age. She was a retired educator with the Columbia County School System having received a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education from Valdosta State University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Florida in five areas of certification, elementary education, reading, curriculum development, guidance and administration/supervision. She taught first grade and reading at Five Points School and served as a Guidance Counselor at Five Points, the Kindergarten Center and Fort White School until retiring in 1994. During her more than thirty years as an educator, she touched the lives of thousands of young people in Columbia County. She was an avid reader and loved to travel having traveled extensively in the United States, Europe, Mexico and Costa Rica, but her favorite destination was “The Little Place”, the family’s summer home in Franklin, North Carolina, especially when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were visiting. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints holding several leadership positions including Primary teacher, visiting teacher and Relief Society President.

Mrs. Little is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Ralph Little; a son, Roger Little of Lake City; a daughter, Terri Metrick (Ray) of Fort White; five grandchildren, Roger Little, Jr., Laurie Little, Ronnie Robinson, Kelly Robinson, and Will Robinson; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Daisy, Carly and Jackson Robinson; a sister, Frances Wilson (Carl) of Fort White and a brother, Howell Nettles (Shirley) of Glen St. Mary.

Funeral services for Mrs. Little will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 30, 2011 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located on Old Country Club Road with Bishop Jeffro Thomas officiating. OBITUARY

Timothy C. Biggs, 44, of Glen Rock died yesterday in Valley Hospital, Ridgewood.

A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Catharine Church, Glen Rock. Arrangements are by the Vander Plaat Colonial Home Inc., Fair Lawn.

Mr. Biggs was a public relations director with the Prudential Insurance Co. corporate headquarters in Newark, where he worked for 18 years.

He earned a bachelor's degree in foreign service from Georgetown University in 1978 and a master's degree in future studies from the University of Houston at Clearlake in 1979.

Mr. Biggs volunteered for many sporting programs in Glen Rock.

Born in Fort Leavenworth, Kan., he had lived in Glen Rock for 17 years.

Surviving are his wife, Pamela; a daughter, Ashley; a son, Brett; his mother, Mrs. Katie Biggs; a sister, Deborah, and a brother, Kirby.

Mrs. Rebecca S. Wilder, 54, a life long resident of Columbia County, died late Sunday evening, February 22, 2010 in the Haven Hospice of the Suwannee Valley following an illness of several months. Mrs. Wilder was the daughter of Howard Callahan and the late Audrey Duren Callahan. Mrs. Wilder was the co-owner and operator of Pope’s Grocery in Wilson Springs for many years. She was referred to by many as the “E-Mail Queen” for her daily communications and enjoyed buying and selling items on e-bay. She was recently preceded in death by her beloved German Shepherd “Jake”. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Branford Ward.

Mrs. Wilder is survived by her husband of twenty years, David C. “Doc” Wilder; her father, Howard Callahan of Lake City; a brother, Ken Callahan (Connie) of Lake City and two sisters, Rhonda Porter (Gary) of Macon, Georgia and Teresa Wilkerson (Robert) of Fort White, Florida.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilder will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Cannon Creek Ward (located on Sisters Welcome Road) with Bishop Charles Gagliano and Brother Mark Duren officiating. Interment will follow in the Fort White Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 Tuesday evening in the Chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Haven Hospice of the Suwannee Valley, 6037 U.S. Highway 90 West, Lake City, Fl 32055.

Mrs. Susan Jane Summerville Ourso. Age 61, of Lake City, Fla. died Sunday, Jan. 20, in the Shands at Lake Shore Hospital, Lake City, Fla. following a long illness. She was a life long resident of Lake City and the daughter of L.B. and Blanche Douglas Summerville.

She retired from PCS Phosphate, White Springs, Fla. after 35 years of service as a senior secretary. She was a graduate of Columbia High School Class of 1969, a member of the Cattleman's Association and played piano at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Lulu Baptist Church and Bethlehem Baptist Church for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Larry J. HAINES CITY - Marvin Anthony Douberly, Jr., 74, of Haines City died Monday, January 19, 2015 in Winter Haven. He was born April 2, 1940 to Marvin A. Douberly, Sr. and Darrie Mae (Douglas) Douberly.

Mr. Douberly was a member of Living Water Church in Eagle Lake and had retired from Dundee Citrus as a Receiving Foreman. He was known for his great love of the outdoors.

He was predeceased by his parents; son Marvin Anthony Douberly III; and sister Susie Witt. He is survived by his wife of 27 years Becky Douberly; sons David (Rachel) Douberly of Mulberry, Steve (Stephanie) Glass of Winter Haven, and Bo (Julie) Glass of Haines City; daughters Janet (Mario) Acosta of Dundee and Wendy (Scott) Kerr of Haines City; brothers W.P. William Penn Douberly, Sr, aka Bo, went to heaven on Saturday, December 7th, 2019.

Bo knew God needed help with his watermelon patch this year and couldn't wait to show him how its done. Bo's love for farming and family was present every day of his 89 years on this earth. He started a successful farming operation in Immokalee, FL in the 1950s. He moved to the Gilchrist county area in the early 1970s. His love for the land evolved into a family operation, continued today by his son Bill Douberly. Whether he was running a tractor, or catching up at the local café, he was always doing what he loved. He was a hard-working farmer, who through good times and bad supported and loved his family.

Being one of eight siblings, his immediate and extended family is vast. His wonderful wife Dorothy has been by Bo's side for the past 65 years. His children Sandra Cook, Cathy Jones (Tom), Cindy Salvadori (Louis), and Bill Douberly Jr. (Jodi), along with his grandchildren Kasey, Benjamin (Erin), Stephanie (Rich), Tristan, Cavender, Kate, and Anni, and 4 great grandchildren will all miss him greatly. He touched so many in his time on earth, we thank everyone for their love and kindness during this time.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Funeral services for Bo will be held at Pine Grove Baptist Church of Trenton, 16655 NW County Rd 339, December 11, at 11:00 am.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service, from 10 until 11, at the church.

Bartow - Kenneth Eugene Douberly, age 85, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at his residence in Bartow surrounded by his loving family.

Born January 26, 1932 in Bartow, Mr. Douberly was a lifelong resident. He was the owner of Crown Electric Company of Bartow for over 54 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Highlands Church of Christ of Lakeland and former Elder of the Jackson Avenue Church of Christ of Bartow.

Mr. Douberly was very active in the community serving as sponsor of Crown Electric Little League and Bartow High School Girls Softball. He served on the Board of Directors of Central Florida Bible Camp and generous in many community activies. He was an avid fisherman and Florida Gator Fan and member of the Polk County Gator Booster Club.

Mr. Douberly is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years: Betty Lynn Douberly, a brother: Anthony Douberly and sister: Sue Witt.

He is survived by two sons: Kenneth R. Douberly of Lakeland and Tracy E. Douberly [Cindy], of Bartow; a daughter: Rosemary "Lynn" Praay [Tim], St. Augustine; two brothers: William "Bo" Douberly [Dorothy], Gilcrest County, FL and Gary Douberly [Crissy], Keystone Heights FL; three sisters: Gladys "Pat" Douberly and Linda Walker of Lake City, FL; Janice Combs (Wendell) of Glen Saint Mary, FL; five grandchildren: Kendra, Jason, Andrew, Jacob and Brandon and four great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Friday, April 7, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow.

Ms. Gladys “Pat” Estelle Douberly, age 84, of Lake City, Florida passed away on May 8, 2018 at Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, Florida. She was born on March 27, 1934 in Providence, Florida to Marvin Anthony Douberly, Sr. and Darrie Mae Douglas. She relocated all around Florida before residing in Lake City 20 years ago. She worked in the Yellow Page division of Southern Bell for 30 years until her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to the beach, spending time with her pets, and most of all, her family. She is preceded in death by both parents, Marvin Anthony Douberly, Sr. and Darrie Mae Douglas Douberly; her sister, Susan Witt; and brothers, Anthony Douberly and Kenneth E. Douberly.

Ms. Douberly is survived by her brothers, William “Bo” (Dorothy) Douberly of Trenton, Florida and Gary (Chrissy) Douberly of Keystone Heights, Florida; her sisters Janice (Wendell) Combs of Taylor, Florida and Linda Walker of Lake City, Florida. There are numerous beloved nieces and nephews who also survive.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Douberly will be held on Saturday, May 12 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home in Lake City, Florida. A visitation will be held two hours before the service on Saturday (11:00-1:00PM) at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Swift Creek Cemetery in Union County, FL.
