Carolyn B. Williams
Carolyn B. Williams, 64, of Valdosta, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Apalachicola, Fla. on Nov. 4, 1938, to Florence Mae Scarabin Barrientos and Lawless Joseph Barrientos, Sr.
Mrs. Williams was co-owner of Country Cobbler, which she and her husband founded in 1964, the year they moved to Valdosta, and Schreiber's Bootery in Waycross. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, the Huxford Genealogical Society and the Williams Family Reunion Planning Committee. She also sat on the Board of Advisors for Citizens Community Bank of Valdosta and was a former member of the Valdosta Woman's Club.
She was a deeply generous person who constantly served others without a desire for recognition. Her vivacious personality and capacity to help in situations of need was greatly respected and admired by all who knew her. She was the most loving and thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawless Joseph Barrientos Sr. and her father-in-law, Edwin LeGrand Williams Sr. She is survived by her husband, E.L. "Boe" Williams of Valdosta; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Edwin L. Williams III of Atlanta, Cason & Leisa Williams of Valdosta; and one daughter and son-in-law, Ginny & Lawson Krikland of Valdosta; her mother, Florence Swindoll of Valdosta; her mother-in-law, Doris Cason Williams, of Quitman; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann 7 Madison Moye of Donalsonville; a brother, Lawless Joseph Barrientos, Jr., of Charlottesville, Va.; two granddaughters, Anna and Taylor Williams of Valdosta.
Visitation will be held at Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta from 6 -8 p.m. tonight. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Valdosta at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003. The committal and burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens, on North Valdosta Road. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1931 Arlington Road, Bethesda, Maryland, 20814, www.cff.org. --Carson McLane Funeral Home.
