    Burnettown--Mr Lewis L Raines, 76, died Tuesday Aug 28 1990 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, Aiken.

    The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hatcher Funeral Home Langley, with the Rev Earl Carter officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley.

    Mr Raines, a native of Abbeville, had retired from the Townsend Division of Graniteville Co after 20 years of service. He was a member of Little Horse Creek Baptist Church, where he was a past deacon and a member of the men's Sunday school class. He was a member of Woodmen of the World.

    Survivors include his wife, Grace Hallman Raines, a stepdaughter, Majorie Johnson, Warrenville, a stepson Rudolph Jackson, Wagener, four sisters, Elizabeth Martin, Clayton, NC, Thelma Harris, Jacksonville, Fla, Josephine Nichols, Abbeville, and Ann Fritts, Hendersonville, Tenn, and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    Pallbears will be nephew and James Johnson and Guy Grimes.

    Honoray pallbearers will be deacons of Little Horse Creek Baptist Church.

    The family will receive friends at the residence of his stepdaughter, on Elizabeth Street, or from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

    APRIL 14, 1905-JANUARY 12, 1998 DURHAM - Elizabeth Raines Martin, retired school teacher, died on Monday, January 12, 1998, in Coble Health Care Center of the Methodist Retirement Community, Durham, North Carolina. She was born in Abbeville, South Carolina, the daughter of the late J.C. and Willie Raines.

    Mrs. Martin is a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College, Boone, North Carolina. She taught elementary grade school in Roxboro, Beaufort, and Morganton before coming to Clayton in 1948, where she retired.

    Mrs. Martin was married to the late Reverend William C. Martin twenty-two years. After his death she filled her time doing for others, visiting in hospitals and nursing home.

    Surviving: sisters, Josephine Nichols of Abbeville, South Carolina, and Mary Ann Fritts of Henderson, Tennessee; half-sister, Cora Weir of Chester, South Carolina.

    Funeral service held on Thursday, January 15, at 2 p.m. in McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel, Clayton, North Carolina, with the Reverend Richard Stone officiating.

    Entombment held in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

    Visitation held at 1 p.m. one hour prior to the service.

    Deceased Name: CHESTER - Mrs. Cora Raines Weir, 103
    of 1213 Halsellville Road, Chester, SC, died Sunday, May 30, 1999 at her residence.

    Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Weir 3:00 PM Tuesday at Beaver Creek Baptist Church with Revs. Terry Wingate and Clyde Riley officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

    Born in Abbeville, SC, October 19, 1895, Mrs. Weir was the daughter of the late James Cason and Mary Corinne (Broadway) Raines. She was a graduate of Abbeville High School and Winthrop College in 1918 and went on to become an Elementary and High School teacher and Principle. She was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church where she was active in Bible School and was an officer in the Baptist Women's Missionary Union. She was honored by the church for having taught Sunday School for over 73 years. She was also a member and officer of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and an officer in the Clemson Extension Home Demonstration Club.

    Survivors include, two daughters, Eloise Weir Blanks of Clemson, SC, Mrs. T. Elliott (Lavinia) Weir McDonald of Chester, SC; three granddaughters, Rinne Blanks Canon of Clemson, SC, Sandra kay McDonald of Fort Collins, CO, Mrs. Edward D. (Harriet) McDonald Simmons of Clemson, SC; two half-sisters, Mrs. Anne Raines Fritts of Hendersonville, TN and Mrs. Josephine Raines Nichols of Abbeville, SC.

    Memorials may be made to Beaver Creek Baptist Church, 1213 Halsellville Road, Chester, SC 29706.

    Eloise Weir Blanks CLEMSON -- Mrs. Blanks of Ravenel Circle, died at home on July 12, 2009. She was born in Chester County, South Carolina on August 30, 1925, and was the daughter of Leslie B. and Cora R. Weir.

    She was predeceased by her husband, Victor G. Blanks.

    Surviving are her daughter Corinne Cannon of Clemson, her sister Lavinia McDonald of Chester, and two special nieces, Sandra K. McDonald of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Harriet M. Simmons of Clemson.

    Eloise retired to Clemson in 1992 from Charlotte, North Carolina, where she lived for over 40 years. At the time of her retirement she was a private caterer and operated the employee and executive dining rooms for Wachovia Bank. Mrs. Blanks was active in areas of church administration at Tabernacle Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church, The First Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. She was also active in community and church affairs having served as chief usher at Ovens Auditorium and having held numerous state and national positions in both the ARP and Presbyterian churches. Eloise was an avid gardener who loved her yard and loved to share her flowers. She was also an enthusiastic bridge player, a most accommodating hostess, and a true friend to her beautiful white cat, Ashley. In recent years Eloise enjoyed the activities of the Central-Clemson Senior Center and her friends there. She was a member of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church.

    A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14th, in the chapel at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with interment on Wednesday July 15th at 11:00 A.M. at Beaver Creek Baptist Church in Chester, South Carolina.
