FOWLER, Sr., Gene W., died peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, April 13, 2010.
He was born in Atlanta, GA on March 27, 1921. He married Wilma Dicks in 1950 and moved to Plant City in 1956. He served in the Pacific during WWII in the 112th Calvary, and was Chief of Radiology at Lakeland Regional Medical Center for over 30 years before retiring in 1986. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and since retirement, observing legal proceedings at Plant City court house.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wilma; daughter Ginger Brinton and husband Charles; son Gene Jr. and partner Rich Benson; grandchildren Courtney Brinton, Chuck Brinton and wife Mindy; and great-granddaughter Avery.
In honor of his request, a brief service will be held at Florida National Cemetery on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. before being laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Radiology Scholorship Fund at LRMC Foundation, P.O. Box 95448, Lakeland, FL, 33804.
