    Henry was born a healthy child and began his youth in a strong and hardy condition. When he was 13 years of age his right leg became continually painful. Doctors were baffled as to the cause and sent Henry to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, and bone cancer in its final stage was diagnosed.

    STATESBORO -- Ernestine Prescott Chandler, 92, died May 9 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.

    The native of Charlton County lived in Statesboro the past 53 years. She was a teacher and garden supervisor in Charlton County and a homemaker. She was co-owner of Chandler Sales Inc. She was a former member of Jolly Club, Home Demonstration Club and several other organizations. She was a member of Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church and Cora Williams Circle. She was the widow of Willie Hendricks Chandler.

    SURVIVORS: a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Ken Smallwood of Calhoun; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Pat Chandler of Colonel's Island and Charles and Pat Chandler of Statesboro; a sister, Sally P. Beale of Danville, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Edd and Elise Prescott of St. Simons Island; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 25 nieces and nephews.

    VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. today at Jake A. Futch Funeral Home, Statesboro.

    FUNERAL: 5 p.m. Saturday at Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church, burial in Eastside Cemetery.

    Sarah Jane "Sally" Prescott Beale, 90, of Danville, Va., died Wednesday (Oct. 26, 2005) at Roman Eagle Memorial Home after a two-year battle with cancer.

    The funeral service will be held Friday (today) at 4 p.m. at Schoolfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sarah Doss officiating. Burial will be at Danville Memorial Gardens.

    Mrs. Beale was born on Aug. 27, 1915 at Folkston, Ga., to the late Owen Melvin Prescott and the late Mary Wildes Prescott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burgin Wally Beale Sr., eight brothers and two sisters.

    Mrs. Beale was a former teacher and homemaker. She graduated from Charlton County High School and attended Georgia State Women's College in Valdosta and Georgia State Teachers College in Statesboro, Ga.

    After her marriage to Wally Beale, she moved to Danville in 1942. She was a member of Schoolfield United Methodist Church for 50 years and a member of the Ladies Bible Class, Adult Bible Class, United Methodist Women, Senior Citizen's Club, Inc., the national and local AARP and Dan River Retiree's Club.

    Survivors include her daughters, Lalanne B. Barber and her husband, Bill, of Lansing, Mich., Latrelle B. Francis and her husband, Bob, of Mechanicsville, Va., Linda B. Porter and her husband, Jim, of Chase City, Va., and Lisa B. Niblock and her husband, Marc, of Concord; her son, Burgin W. Beale Jr. and his wife, Beverlee, of Southern Pines; her nephew, Harold Beale and his wife, Mary, of Danville, Va.; a special friend, James Kirby, of Danville, Va.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

    Swicegood Funeral Home of Danville, Va., is handling the arrangements.

    Roy Coleman Prescott, 75, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014. He was born on December 13, 1938 in Dublin, GA., and has lived in Jacksonville for the past 55 years. He was the son of the late Lee Roy and Gladys Register Prescott.

    He retired from St. Regis Paper Mill after 42 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and will be dearly missed by all.

    Survivors include his sons, Eric Prescott (Amy) of Jacksonville, Alan Prescott (Rita) of Folkston, and Chris Prescott (Frankie) of Jacksonville; brother, Eddie Prescott (Wylene) of Fruit Cove; sisters, Gloria Wright (Jimmy) of Jacksonville, and Glenda Wainright (John) of Nahunta, GA.; grandchildren, Sandra (James), Kelly (Will), Levi (Abby), Hannah (Chris), Matthew (Vina) and Caroline; great grandchildren, James, Jacey, Anthony, Alex, and Juno; and a host of other relatives and friends.

    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, at 11am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with Rev. Joe Perry officiating.

    Interment will be on Thursday May 22, in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, Folkston Georgia, with Randy Wainright officiating.

    Eddie Eugene Prescott, 73 of St. Augustine, FL, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017, at The Community Hospice Palliative Care in Jacksonville after an extended illness.

    Born in Savannah, GA, his parents were Lee Roy Prescott and Gladys Opal Register Prescott. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Coleman Prescott.

    Eddie was a member of Gideon’s International and North Jacksonville Baptist Church (NJBC.org), where he served as an usher. Eddie retired from JEA after working 31 years in Power Plant Maintenance, and was a member of the REA (Retired Employee Association.) He loved gardening and grew many fruit trees. He was a member of Florida Baptist Disaster Relief, travelled many times to New Orleans to assist after Hurricane Katrina, helped build the building for the Women’s Resource Center, and participated in missions to other places.

    Survivors include his wife, Glinda Wylene Manor Prescott, of St. Augustine, FL; his son, Gene D. Prescott (Kelli), of St. Johns, FL; 2 grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Prescott and Ryan Michael Prescott; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria Wright (Jimmy) of Jacksonville, FL, and Glenda Wainright (John), of Nahunta; Sister-in-law Ann Prescott, along with many nieces and nephews.

    A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 3PM at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Corum, Rev. William “Buddy” Morris, and Rev. Randy Wainright officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service.

    Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Nahunta, GA.

    Family and pallbearers are asked to meet at the church Thursday by 2:30PM.

    A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 3PM at North Jacksonville Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Corum and Rev. William “Buddy” Morris officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service.

    Known for his generosity to family, friends and acquaintances alike, and his forever smile.

    Mary is survived by her two sons Jeffrey Wooten and Chad Wooten. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Payton Leibe, Edyson Leibe, and JJ Wooten to forever cherish her memory.

    She is predeceased by her daughter Alyssa Michelle, her grandson Taylor Liebe and her former husband Fred Wooten.

    A gathering for Mary will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Blount & Curry FH-Macdill Chap, 605 S Macdill Ave Tampa, FL 33609, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM officiated by Rev. (Coach) Herman Valdes.

    Mr. Michael Kenneth "Mike" Smallwood, 48, entered through the gates of Heaven at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Georgia Regents Medical Center in Augusta, GA.

    The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Thomson High School Auditorium with Rev. Addison Belangia, Rev. Scott Franklin and Rev. John Spencer officiating.

    Interment will be in Westview Cemetery in Thomson.

    Serving as pallbearers will be Linton Neal, Cecil Strong, Kirk Kinson, Hal Howard, Neal Tam, Bill Beckum, Tony Arrington and Jesse Morlan. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be coaches and faculty of Thomson High School and Lincoln County High School.

    Mr. Smallwood was born on April 20, 1965 in Macon, Georgia. He was a member of Faith Community Church of Lincolnton and attended Inmotion Church of Thomson. Mike previously served as interim youth minister at Lincolnton Baptist Church and Youth Counselor at First United Methodist Church of Thomson. Coach Smallwood coached football for the Thomson Bulldogs, Greene County Tigers, Lincoln County Red Devils and also coached recreational sports in Lincoln County. He was currently serving as Assistant Principal and Vocational Director at Thomson High School.

    Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Heather H. Smallwood; four children, Drake, Britt, Owen and Braelin Smallwood; mother, Christine Chandler Smallwood of Calhoun, GA.; sister, Julianna S. Carter of Calhoun, GA.; two nieces, Erica and Darby Carter.

    Mr. Smallwood was preceded in death by his father, J. Kenneth Smallwood.

    Alyssa was born to Fred and Mary Wooten in Tampa, Florida. She graduated from Bayshore Christian School, where she later served on the board of directors. She earned an Associate’s Degree from HCC and studied at the University of South Florida. Spending most of her career in administrative positions in various hospitals, she also worked as a customer care representative.

    From being Baptized in the Jordan River, to the Great Wall, Alyssa was an experienced traveler with adventures across the United States, Europe, China, and Israel. She had a talent for making every interaction a meaningful memory, connecting with every person she encountered, stranger or not. Fluent in American Sign Language, she could always assist those with hearing limitations by assisting in any way she could. Her smile was contagious, as just her presence was enough to spark joy in everyone around her with just a simple hello.

    More than anything, Alyssa loved her family. Growing up the eldest of three, her brothers Jeffery and Chad Wooten knew they could always lean on their big sister. Raising her three children, fathered by Leland Liebe, were one of her greatest joys. Taylor, Edyson, and Payton Liebe were blessed with Alyssa as a mother. She loved unconditionally and was selfless, especially when it came to her children.

    Alyssa Liebe made extensive and noteworthy volunteer contributions to the military families and Soldiers of the United States Army during periods of both war and peace. She was presented with a General Officer Certificate of Achievement for her leadership and volunteer work supporting the families assigned to the Headquarters Company, 18th Aviation Brigade while also supporting her family at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Her tireless effort supporting the family readiness of the 1st Cavalry Division resulted in Texas Governor Rick Perry designating Alyssa as a prestigious “Yellow Rose of Texas” for exceptional community service related to the preservation of the history of Texas. She also led the Family Readiness Group of the 205th Military Intelligence Battalion in Fort Shafter, Hawaii, resulting in yet further recognition for her support to Army families supporting operations throughout the Pacific Theater and the Global War on Terror. Additionally, Alyssa always stepped forward to help the coaches and mentors of the various sports leagues and activity groups associated with all three of her children, always providing whatever necessary coordination required to make every team/event/activity successful.

    Alyssa was a joyous friend to all, and always a familiar face. Everyone was welcome in her home and in her heart. Witty, outgoing, generous, faithful, and determined are all words that describe her.

    Alyssa touched many lives and had an indestructible relationship with Christ. She is reunited with her son Taylor Liebe, her daddy Fred Wooten, Grandma Liz and Grandpa Vince, Grandma Jean and Grandpa Fred.
