Funeral services for Hugh H. Rewis, 62, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20 in the Albany Christian Church with the Rev. Buddy Harris officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. in Adel at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Rewis died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Born May 9, 1944, in Lowndes County, he had lived in Albany since 1978. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Adel, but was affiliated with Albany Christian Church where he rededicated his life and knew the joy of the Lord. He was a Snap-On Tools dealer for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Suzan M. Rewis of Albany; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tommy and Ann Rewis and Shane Rewis of Maryville, Tenn.; his beloved granddaughter, Ariel Hughes of Maryville, Tenn.; his mother, Ruby Register Rewis Dempsey of Adel; a brother and sister-in-law, Vona and Becky Rewis of Adel; a special caregiver, Jayne Carman of Albany; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie “J.W.” Rewis, a sister, Laverne Boone, and a brother, Lavon Rewis.
Visitation will be from 7:30-9 p.m. today at Matthews Funeral Home of Albany.
The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the funeral service.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Albany Christian Church at 1501 Whispering Pines Road, Albany, Ga. or to Albany Community Hospice, 2332 Lake Park Drive, Albany, Ga., 31707.
