    Died:
    David R. Dixon, 75, of Waynesville, passed away early Thursday (July 27, 2006) afternoon at Satilla Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Pierce County, he was a son of the late Joe Allen and Eva Roberson Dixon.

    He was a plasterer until ill health forced his retirement.

    Survivors include his wife, Josephine White Dixon, of Waynesville; three sons, David Allen (Pete) Dixon, of Waynesville, Thomas Earl Dixon (Janet), of Orange City, Fla., and John Boyd Dixon (Kim), of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Sandra Dixon Cox (Terry), Karen DiDonna (John) and Sheri Lynn Palmer, all of Orlando, Fla.; six brothers, Adam Paul Dixon, of Atlanta, Gordon E. Dixon, of Orlando, Fla., George Walter Dixon, of Waynesville, Archie Randall Dixon, of Wesley Chapel, Fla., Roswell G. Dixon, of Lakeland, Fla., and Truman Henry Dixon, of Waycross; four sisters, Betty Lou Sapp, of Bristol, Mary Jo Lumley, of Lakeland, Fla., Clarice Cox, of Waycross, and Vannie Mae Laney, of Palatka, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends this evening, 6-8, at the funeral home.

    Funeral will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. at the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Dixon officiating.

    Memorialization will be by cremation.

    Joel Chambless Funeral Home, North Main Street, in Nahunta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
