Argent S. Corbett, 85, of Valdosta passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born on December 25, 1926, in Appling County, GA to the late Dave and Sarah Elizabeth Bratcher Steedley. She retired from Southern Bell after 22 years of service as an operator supervisor and was a member of Open Door Fellowship Church. At the age of 70 she went back to school to earn her CNA degree so she could sit with the "elderly".
She was preceded in death by a sister, Bithey Mae Wilcox, and 3 brothers, Carlos Steedley, Aubrey Steedley and Clarence Steedley.
Survivors Include: Daughter & Son-in-law, Christine Corbett & Sonny Southers, Lake City, FL; Sons & Daughters-in-law, James E. & Tracy Corbett, Valdosta, GA, Phillip N. & Joanie Corbett, Wellborn, FL; 6 Grandchildren: Lydia Corbett, Hunter Corbett, David Corbett, Joe Corbett, Junior Brookins and Peyton Corbett; Brother & Sister-in-law, Amos & Susan Steedley, North Augusta, SC
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 12, 2012 at Open Door Fellowship Church with burial following in Sunset Hill Cemetery. She will be placed in the church 1 hour prior to services. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the funeral home.

WILCOX - Bithey Mae Wilcox, 76, formerly of Green Creek, NC and Jacksonville, FL, died April 27, 1998 at Autumn Care of Saluda, NC.
A native of Bacon County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Lizzie Bratcher Steedley.
She was a member of Green Creek Baptist Church and was a retired file clerk from Dun and Bradstreet.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Annette Fleenor and Pat Dubay, both of Mill Spring, NC and Marlene Williams of Jacksonville, FL; 3 brothers, Aubrey Steedley of Augusta, GA, Amos Steedley and David C. Steedley, both of North Augusta, SC; sister, Argent Corbett of Donaldsonville, GA; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by a son, John David Wilcox.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM Friday at Jones Road Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Jerry Gesell and Rev. Williams Turner.
Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.

Funeral Services for David Carlos Steedley, 81, of Sweetwater Road, North Augusta, SC, who died March 27, 2006, will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock from the Sweetwater Baptist Church. Dr. Paul W. Noe officiating. Interment in Sweetwater Cemetery with Military Honors.
Mr. Steedley was a native of Alma, Georgia, having made North Augusta his home for the past 58 years. He was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church, Church Cemetery Committee, Briggs Sunday School Class and the Joy Choir. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, Mr. Steedley received two Purple Hearts and was a Charter Member of the Mendel Rivers Post #44 Disabled American Veterans. He was retired from the E.I. DuPont Company at the Savannah River Plant, a member of the North Augusta Country Club and a former member of the North Augusta Optimist Club.
Survivors include his wife, Ola Mae McCarty Steedley; a son and daughter-in-law, David Monte Steedley and Twyla Tuten, North Augusta; a daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Randy Cannon, North Augusta; three grandchildren, Karen Roberts, Shannon Nicole Herman and Twyla Wofford and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Aubrey L. Steedley, Albany, Georgia and Amos W. Steedley, North Augusta; a sister, Argent Corbett, Ray City, Georgia.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Briggs Sunday School Class. Active Pallbearers will be Craig Kupitz, Gary Safley, Kevin Rix, Carroll Dyal, Verl Steedley, Rick Osbon, Larry McCarty and Marion Cliatt.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Tuesday evening from 6 to 8.
