Jeweldene Rowe Woods went home to be with her Lord on May 26, 2017. She was born on June 4, 1935.
She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Fred Woods.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Charlotte Innes and Lynn Rix (Dale), both of Jacksonville; 3 granddaughters, Michelle, Theresa, and Victoria; 1 brother, Morris “Buddy” Rowe; 1 sister, Debi Harrison; 3 nephews, 4 great-grandchildren and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Salisbury Baptist Church (formerly South Riverside Missionary Baptist Church) for over 30 years. She was a choir member at South Jacksonville Baptist Church for 20 years.
She began a career in banking while still in high school. She was later a Navy wife and devoted mother working various jobs including, Reading Lab at Trinity Christian Academy, bookkeeping at Hurst Florist and Rural Mail Carrier for USPS. Jewel loved music, both playing piano and singing. She was an artist, producing many drawings and paintings to be cherished by her family. She was an avid, life-long learner and teacher helping to home-school her granddaughters.
The family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org in lieu of flowers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road N. Jacksonville, FL 32225.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road N. Jacksonville, FL 32225, with Pastor Dave Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Chapel Hills Cemetery with a reception to follow.
