Mr. Joseph Clayton “Joey” Wilks, age 34. of Lake City, Florida died Saturday, Jan. 31, in the Shands at the University of Florida Medical Center, Gainesville, Florida following a brief illness.
He was born in Gainesville, Florida and lived all of his life in Lake City, Florida. He was of the Baptist faith and worked as a laborer in the construction industry. He loved fishing and hunting and spending time with his son.
He is survived by his son, Jonathan Ray Wilks of Lake City, Florida: Two daughters, Brittany Larrison of Florida and Jaylynn Williamson of Lake City, Florida: His parents, James and Barbara Wilks of Lake City, Florida: Two sisters, Andrea (Adam) Paulk and Donna Kay (Joe) Sheldon both of Lake City, Florida: One brother, Michael (Jessica) Wilks of Lake City, Florida. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Tuesday, Feb. 3, in Memorial Cemetery, Lake City, Florida with his sister, Andrea Paulk giving a eulogy.
There will be a gathering and viewing with the family one hour before services at the cemetery.
