    Alva J. Rowe went home to be with his Lord and to be reunited with his "Sweet Thing." He was Daddy, Papa, Pea-nut Papa, Coach and friend. He loved his family very much.

    He was predeceased by wife Shirley. He and Shirley were married 55 years and 11 months when Momma went to be with the Lord. The only one Daddy loved more than Momma was the Lord. He was also predeceased by grandson, Timothy and great grand daughter, Rory.

    He was born June 28, 1927, in Nassau County, FL to William and Hattie Rowe.

    He is survived by three sons, Jeffrey (Vickie) Rowe, Sanderson, FL, Steven (Jan) Rowe, Jacksonville, FL, Jonathan (Patty) Rowe, Kingsland, GA; three daughters, Robin Bain, Versailles, KY, Kim (Richard) Yarbrough, Baxter, FL, Cindy (Fred) Wilburn, Sanderson, FL; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; five sisters; two brothers; numerous friends and all of the UNF baseball players, past and present.

    Services will be held at the Gospel Lighthouse, 2 PM, Friday, September 26, 2008.

She was a loving Mother , Grandmother and Great- Grandmother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Callahan and Cora Belle Retired from Simmons Mattress Co. after 36 years.

    She is survived by her husband Donald Hubbard Jr. , 3- Sons; Daniel E. (Debra) Johnson of Bremerton, Wa., Gary S. (Barbara) Johnson of Hilliard and Kevin D. (Lynn) Johnson of Hilliard. 5- granddaughters; Jamie Johnson Morris , Danielle Johnson Stanley, Samantha Johnson Latimer, Sabrina Johnson Brooks, and Katie Johnson. 1- grandson; Christopher Johnson and 8-great-grandchildren.3-Sisters ; Francis Kincaid, Shirleen (Ron) Ridenour, and Estelle (Al) Manning. 2-brothers; Herbert (Faye) Rowe and Eddie ( Dottie) Rowe. Sister-in law; Betty Hubbard Henderson (Bobby). Many nieces, nephews and friends.

    She is predeceased by her parents William Rowe and Hattie Hodges Rowe and step-mother ; Winnie Stokes Rowe, 5-brothers and 2-sisters.

    The family will receives friends on Wednesday November 24, 2010 at 10:00 AM. With a memorial service starting at 11:00 AM. At the First United Methodist Church of Callahan.

    Jeweldene Rowe Woods went home to be with her Lord on May 26, 2017. She was born on June 4, 1935.

    She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Fred Woods.

    She is survived by 2 daughters, Charlotte Innes and Lynn Rix (Dale), both of Jacksonville; 3 granddaughters, Michelle, Theresa, and Victoria; 1 brother, Morris “Buddy” Rowe; 1 sister, Debi Harrison; 3 nephews, 4 great-grandchildren and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

    She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Salisbury Baptist Church (formerly South Riverside Missionary Baptist Church) for over 30 years. She was a choir member at South Jacksonville Baptist Church for 20 years.

    She began a career in banking while still in high school. She was later a Navy wife and devoted mother working various jobs including, Reading Lab at Trinity Christian Academy, bookkeeping at Hurst Florist and Rural Mail Carrier for USPS. Jewel loved music, both playing piano and singing. She was an artist, producing many drawings and paintings to be cherished by her family. She was an avid, life-long learner and teacher helping to home-school her granddaughters.

    The family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org in lieu of flowers.

    Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road N. Jacksonville, FL 32225.

    Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road N. Jacksonville, FL 32225, with Pastor Dave Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Chapel Hills Cemetery with a reception to follow.
