DAVIS Walter William Davis, Jr. age 78 of Macclenny, Florida was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 5, 2006.
He was born December 11, 1927 in Taylor Florida and resided in Baker County all of his life. He married Lorraine Kirkland on July 4, 1948.
Mr. Davis was an engineer for 33 years with the Florida Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as the Branch President for 10 years in Sanderson. Mr. Davis was instrumental in the growth of his church in the Baker County area.
When his children were young, he was actively involved in the P.T.A. association in the Glen School. He was an accomplished musician and enjoyed fishing, blue grass music and attending music festivals. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, their children and grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Walter William Davis Sr. and Annie Mae Thompson. He was also predeceased by his brother Dorsey Davis.
In addition to his devoted wife, Lorraine, he is survived by his children: Jeannie Knabb (George), David Davis (Robin), Keith Davis (Tammie), Lisa Whitney (Brent) and Kristi Vorwaller (Mark); 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters: Thelma Fish, Myrtle Crews, Cassie Green, Mildred White and one brother Melvin Davis.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, South 5th Street, Macclenny, Florida. Internment will follow in Taylor Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 7, 2005 (TODAY) in the Ferreira Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m.
