    Mr. Robert Wayne "Bobby" Wilkes, Sr., 73, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at his home.

    A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Caledonia United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Kelly Barr. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton. A Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Caledonia United Methodist Church.

    Born April 13, 1939, in Raeford, NC, he was the son of the late Mamie Currie and John Daniel Wilkes. He was a member of Caledonia United Methodist Church. He worked at Burlington Industries Raeford Plant as the Warehouse foreman for 45 years. Bobby was a wonderful man who loved his family, and people, and was always a joy to be around. He loved to talk, cook on his grill, and work. He also enjoyed riding around Wagram and Raeford visiting friends and looking at the scenery.

    Along with his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Wilton Wilkes; and three sisters, Thelma Adcox, Ella May Cook, and Marie Hales.

    He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Shirley Calhoun Wilkes of the home; sons, Robert Wayne Wilkes, Jr. and wife, Teresa of Rowland, NC, Bryan Keith Wilkes and wife, Teresa of Raeford, NC, and Donald Richard Wilkes and wife, Lisa of Aberdeen, NC; brothers, J.D. Wilkes and special friend, Mavis of McColl, SC, Ervin Wilkes and wife, Carolyn of Clyde, NC; sister, Peggy Inman and husband, Dewey of Raeford, NC; brother-in-law, Roy "Bubba" Calhoun, Jr. of Gibson, NC; sister-in-law, Mae Anna Wilkes of Washington, NC; six grandsons, Steven Wilkes and special friend, Jennifer of Laurinburg, NC, Justin Wilkes of Maxton, NC, Casey Wilkes and special friend, Cassie of Burkeville, TX, Patrick Wilkes of Rowland, NC, Travis Wilkes of Raeford, NC, and Brandon Wilkes of Raeford, NC; two granddaughters, Brittany Wilkes of Wagram, NC, and Amber Wilkes of Hamlet, NC; two great grandsons, Cameron Wilkes of Burkeville, TX, and Jace Colburn of Laurinburg, NC; former daughters-in-law, Linda Smith of Laurinburg, NC, and Christina Yates of Hamlet, NC; 10 nephews; and 13 nieces.

    The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Scotland Cancer Treatment Center, Dr. Kelvin Raybon and his staff, as well as Hospice of Scotland County, especially, Leslie Sheppard, Debra Sutherland, Sue Kirby, Robin Lassiter, Patricia Terry, and Sonya Douglas .
