    Vergie Elizabeth Boyette Cason

    Vergie Elizabeth Boyette Cason, 91, of Offerman, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter, Audrey Rogers, in Jesup. A native and life-long resident of Pierce County, she was a housewife and was a member of the Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

    She was a daughter of the late James and Florence Elizabeth Roberson Boyette and was also preceded in death by her husband, Simon Cason, by a daughter, Nadine Cason Denison and four grandsons, Neal Cason, Ricky Landon, Mitchell Woodcock and Kerry Cason.

    Survivors are seven daughters, Lavinia (James Robert) Thornton and Delane Gordon, all of Screven, Wylene (James) Woodcock and Sue Ann (Rudolph) Dennison, all of Patterson, Clara (Wilkes) Latham, Thalman, Audrey (Doug) Rogers and Gail Cason, all of Jesup; seven sons, Lavon "Peanut" Cason, Wendell (Glenda) Cason, Kenneth (Velma) Cason, Truman (Gail) Cason and Donald (Virginia) Cason, all of Patterson, Deryl Cason, Screven and Arlen (Vickey) Cason of Leary; 47 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, two step-great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, from the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel. Interment followed in the Mill Creek Cemetery. Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home of Blackshear was in charge of arrangements.

    Vergie married Simon Shadrick Cason on 19 Jan 1929 in Pierce, Georgia, USA.     Arlen Cason, 77, of Patmos, died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Blakely.

    Graveside funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 7 at Patmos Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Curtis Alligood will officiate.

    Born May 5, 1938 in Pierce County, Mr. Cason was the son of Simon Shadrick Cason and Vergie Elizabeth Boyette Cason and was married to the late Victoria Lee Fish Cason. He was a member of Patmos Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Cason was a retired well driller. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nadine Denison and a brother, Lavon Cason.

    Survivors include a daughter, Melissa McDaniel (Mark) of Patmos; two sons, James Alan Cason (Della) of Georgetown and Joseph Arlen Cason (Amy Kaye) of Arlington; twelve siblings, Lavinia Thornton of Screven, Wylene Woodcock (James) of Patterson, Clara Lathem (Wilkes) of Thallmon, Audrey Rodgers of Jesup, Wendell Cason of Patterson, Kenneth Cason (Velma) of Patterson, Truman Cason (Gail) of Patterson, Sue Ann Denison of Patterson, Donald Cason (Virginia) of Patterson, Gail Cason of Jesup, Deryl Cason of Blackshear, and Delane Murphy (Cleve) of Bristol; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

    Visitation will be from 2 - 3 p.m., before services on Sunday, at Patmos Freewill Baptist Church.

    Memorials may be made to Patmos Freewill Baptist Church.

    Mr. Simon Lavon "Peanut" Cason, 80 of Patterson, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 15, 2013, at Mayo Health System - Waycross.

    Born in Patterson, Georgia on November 25, 1932, he had lived in Pierce County all of his life. Mr. Cason was a farmer and loved to work in his garden, fish, and hunt with his dogs. He was a former member of the Big Creek Hunting Club.

    Mr. Cason was a son of the late Simon Shadrick & Vergie Elizabeth Boyett Cason. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Norma Faye Thomas Cason; a son, Neal Cason; by a grandson, Nicholas Cason; and by a sister, Nadene Denison.

    Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda & Ellis Denison of Offerman and Jennifer Cason of Patterson; a son, Jeffery Cason of Patterson; 8 sisters, Lavinia Thornton, Audrey Rogers, Gail Cason and Delane Gordon all of Jesup, Wylene (James) Woodcock and Sue Ann Denison all of Patterson and Clara (Wilks) Latham of Brunswick; 6 brothers, Arlen Cason of Blakely, Wendell Cason, Truman (Gail) Cason, Donald (Virginia) Cason and Kenneth (Velma) Cason all of Patterson and Deryl Cason of Blackshear; a brother-in-law, Troy Denison of Patterson; 5 grandchildren, Drew (Robyn) Denison, Casey (Megan) Cason, James Michael Cason, Nicole Cason and Hunter Cason; 6 great grandchildren, Kristen Cason, Emma Smith, Olivia Smith, Cason Denison, Jase Cason and Charlee Denison; and numerous nieces, nephews & other relatives.

    Born in Blackshear, October 13, 1958, he had lived in Pendergrass, for several years before moving back to Patterson over 20 years ago. He had been a log truck driver for Pierce Timber for many years before becoming disabled. He was a simple man who had enjoyed riding his tractor and doing farm work, riding around the neighborhood with his cousin and best friend, Randy Gill, and fussing at his sisters. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.

    He was a son of the late Simon Lavon and Norma Faye Thomas Cason. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Neal Cason and by a nephew, Nick Cason.

    Survivors include his two sons and daughters-in-law, Casey and Megan Cason, Talmo and James Michael and Jordan Cason, Pendergrass; two sisters, Brenda (Ellis) Denison, Offerman and Jennifer Cason, Patterson; two grandchildren, Wylie Lavon Cason and Kynleigh Grace Pennington and a grandchild on the way; his cousin and best friend, Randy Gill, Offerman and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at the funeral home.

    Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 25, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

    Interment will follow in the Offerman Cemetery.
