    Deceased Name: James M. Chesnutt Jr.

    NEW BERN -- James Moseley Chesnutt Jr., 81, of New Bern, formerly of Fayetteville, died Sunday in Craven Regional Medical Center.

    Mr. Chesnutt was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a former member of First Presbyterian Church.

    A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville. Arrangements are being handled by Cotten Funeral Home of New Bern.

    Mr. Chesnutt is survived by two sons, James M. Chesnutt III of Raleigh and Marcus W. Chesnutt of New Bern; and four grandchildren.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

    Deceased Name: James M. Chesnutt III

    RALEIGH ; James Moseley Chesnutt, III, 54, of Raleigh, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2005, at his home. He was born September 22, 1950, in Lumberton, to the late James Moseley Chesnutt Jr. and Ruth Wilkes Chesnutt.

    James graduated from high school in Fayetteville. He was a graduate of Methodist College in Fayetteville with a degree in English and earned his master's degree in criminal justice administration from Webster University. James began his career as a probation and parole officer in 1977 in Cumberland County, rising to chief probation/parole officer for Wake County in 1994.

    James was a past president of the North Carolina Correctional Association and was a member of the North Carolina Probation Parole Association. Recently, in recognition of his years of dedication and service to the state of North Carolina, James was honored to be awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by Governor Mike Easley. The Order of the Long Leaf Pine is among the most prestigious awards presented by the governor of North Carolina.

    James was also a Freemason.

    A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 27, 2005, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Wake Forest, with the Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating.

    James is survived by his wife, Peggy Chesnutt; his two daughters, Katie Pooley and Kristin Chesnutt-Golden; his two sons, Brian Pooley and Mathew Pooley; his three grandsons;, and his brother, Mark Chesnutt and wife Sissy.

    Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Friends may visit the family immediately following the service at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest.
