Iris Mozelle Brown Wilkes, 80, of Raleigh, died on Monday, February 12, 2007, at Rex Hospital. She was born on June 5, 1926, in Rocky Mount, NC, to the late W.T. Brown and Dalseda Kelly Brown. Iris was a long time member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, and a past member of the Hidden Valley Garden Club. She was a great women and loving person who is now gone to be with the Lord. She will be missed greatly by her family and all that knew her.
Mrs. Wilkes is survived by her husband of 57 years Mr. Edward Wilkes; her two sons, Charles Wilkes of Apex and Staley Wayne Pearce of Wilmington; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Gail Wilkes in 2001.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 14, 2007, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2007, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church on Falls of Neuse Road in North Raleigh.
