    Charles Henry Hines, 78, resident of Lake City, died at The Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, Saturday January 17, 2009 after an extended illness.

    He was a native of Baker County Florida, son of the late William Henry and Ola Dell Wheeler Hines and had made his home in Lake City most of his life where he was employed by Florida Power and Light Company for forty years until his retirement in 1988. He also owned and operated his farm in Columbia County for many years. He was a 1948 graduate of Mason High School and was a devoted member of The First Baptist Church of Lake City, where he served as Chairman of Deacons for some three terms, Chairman of the Stewardship Committee for two terms, served as Supervisor during the construction of the Fellowship Hall and the installation of the elevator for the church.

    Charles is survived by his devoted wife of sixty years, Lois Marion Davis Hines of Lake City. Four daughters, Dell Anne Afzal (Naser), Alachua, Fl, Charlene Hines-Ranger (Robert), Phoenix, Arizona, Kay Sue Poltorak (Gerald), Lake City and Nola Jane Moon (Robert), Wimauma, Florida. Two sisters, Maude Feagle, Tampa, Fl and Juanita Larson (Larry) Brentwood, Tennessee. Six grandchildren, Bobby Afzal, Shaida Afzal Ehlert, David William Hetterly IV, Charles Henry Hetterly, Raeghan Brittney Hetterly and Christopher Gerald Poltorak Four great grandchildren, a brother in law, Clarence Feagle, Branford, Fl and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 3596 South U.S. Highway 44l, Lake City, Fl (386) 752-1954 with Rev. Bill Wood officiating, assisted by Rev. Stephen Ahrens.

    Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

    Visitation will be at the funeral home, Monday, January 19, 2009 from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M.

    In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 182 NE Justice Street, Lake City, FL 32055 or Haven Hospice 6037 Hwy. 90 W., Lake City, FL 32055.
