George A. Kerce went home to Jesus on Aug. 26, 2021.
He was born to P.J. and Mildred Kerce on the family farm in So. Columbia County on Mar. 9, 1942 and born again in Jesus in Sept. of 1961. Also, in the 1960’s upon graduating from Fort White High School, he entered the U.S. Army and spent 3 years of service in Frankfurt, Germany where he met a para-church organization known as The Navigators. They mentored him in personal Bible study, scripture memory, witnessing, etc., which skills he used the rest of his life in teaching others about Jesus. When he returned to the states, he enrolled at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, California where he earned an A.A. degree in 1970. He then enrolled at San Diego State where he was one semester shy of receiving a B.S. in psychology. In 1971 he married Maureen Crowley in Fargo, North Dakota, then moved back to California and after 2 years moved home again to Florida with his new family. He worked as a building contractor for 45 years and at the same time did part-time and then full-time work as one of the associate pastors at Hopeful Baptist Church. George was preceded in death by his two parents.
He is survived by his wife Maureen, son Chad, daughter Charmaine (“Mandy”) and all 7 of his siblings: Margie (A.B. , deceased) Markham; Ann (Kermit, deceased) Horne; Mary (L.N.) Greene; P.J. Kerce, Jr.; Linda (James) Harris; Goldie (Wayne) Hudson; and Johnny (Myrtle) Kerce as well as all of their families, most of whom live in the North Florida area.
