    Delano Angus Wilkes, 80, of St. Augustine passed away quietly at Flagler Hospital on February 4, 2015.

    He was born in Panama City, FL on January 25, 1935 to Bernice Angus and Flora Scott Wilkes. The family moved to Palatka where he attended school. Having shown an early interest in Architecture, he attended the University of Florida School of Architecture and Fine Arts. Upon completion of his studies he began his career in Chicago and worked for several architectural firms until he and a partner opened their own business. He specialized in designing mostly commercial buildings and churches and sometimes homes.

    He was a member and elected trustee to Dune Acres Town Board, a consultant to the Institute of Crippled and Disabled, a guest lecturer/ field trip guide to the College of DuPage, vice chairman of Westchester Democratic Party, Counselor to the Board of Trustees to New England Historical Society and the New England Historical Genealogical Society and Producer of the documentary film, "The Angry Minority Menninger Foundation".

    Delano was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice Angus and Flora Scott Wilkes; his beloved wife of 46 years, Dona Jean Wilkes; and a brother, John Price Wilkes.

    Survivors include Delano’s loving husband Robert Burris; his nephew and spouse, Scott and Kristina Wilkes; and his great-nephew, Landen.

    Private graveside services were held Saturday, February 14, 2015 in Westview Cemetery in Palatka. Masters Funeral Home of Palatka is in charge of the arrangements.
