    William H. "Bill" Wilkes
    SWANSEA — Memorial services for William H. "Bill" Wilkes, 78, of Swansea, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at Swansea First Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Wilder officiating.

    Dr. Wilkes was born in Alcolu, S.C., a son of the late Clyde Alexander and Pearl Victoria Sanders Wilkes, Sr. He was an Army veteran of Korea, having served as a Medic. He was a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina. He was a member of Swansea First Baptist Church where he was treasurer, Sunday school director, deacon and usher. He was the former owner and operator of Swansea Drug Store. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Swansea Fire Department for 50 years. He was married to the late Faye Moore Wilkes.

    Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Libby and Robert Cooper of Gaston and Vickie Wilkes of Salley; a sister, Lib Taylor of Manning; and a brother, Clyde A. Wilkes, Jr. of Manning. He was predeceased by three brothers, James Wilkes, Robert Wilkes and Claude Wilkes; and a sister, Grace Baker.

    The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Swansea First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to Swansea First Baptist Church.

    Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North is in charge of arrangements.
