    Obituary for John Robert Boyle

    Mr. John Robert Boyle, 76 of Hamlet, NC was reunited with the love of his life, Mary Sue Holley Boyle, on February 1, 2008. He passed away at his home on Boyd Lake Road in Hamlet. He was born in Wagram, NC on February 19, 1931 the son of the late John A. and Stella White Boyle. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Daniel Boyle.

    He is survived by his son; John Robert Boyle II and wife Deanna of Charlotte, his daughter; Rebecca Sue Boyle and life partner Rebecca Lenee Bradley of Rockingham, three grandchildren; Abbie Dawn Boyle, Brittany Michelle Boyle, and John Robert Boyle III all of Charlotte, his sister; Nellie Boyle Lisk of Hamlet, and his brother; Barney Boyle of Aurora, Colorado.

    He retired from the United States Air Force in 1971 after twenty two years of dedicated service. He was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans of Hamlet, NC and loyally served in various positions during this time. He volunteered countless hours transporting his fellow veterans to and from various appointments. Robert was very active in the Woodmen of the World fraternity. He was an active member in his community and never met a stranger. Anyone that knew him knew that fishing was his life long hobby.

    The family will receive friends and loved ones at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet, Tuesday, February 5, 2008 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The service celebrating his life will be held at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Ken Goins and Rev. Burke York officiating. Burial will follow at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Hamlet Chapter, P.O. Box 607, Hamlet, NC 28345 in his honor.

    Mrs. Frances B. Sullivan, 79, of Rockingham, died Friday, June 10, 2005, at First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital.

    Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 13, 2005, at 3 p.m. at Beverly Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be held after the service at Richmond Memorial Park.

Rhodes of Rockingham, Becky Bowers and husband Danny of Rockingham, and Jane Burnette and husband Duane of Rockingham; a son, Danny Sullivan and wife Denise of Rockingham. Also surviving are a bother, Tyson Barber of Laurinburg; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

    Watson-King Funeral Home of Rockingham is handling the arrangements of the Sullivan family.

    James Lewis Wilkes, 76, of Wagram, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

    A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Hamlet.

    He was born Jan. 1, 1932, in Scotland County, a son of the late James and Emily White Wilkes and husband of the late Elizabeth (Libby) Brown Wilkes. Mr. Wilkes was a U.S. Air Force veteran.     Mrs. McElroy was born October 30, 1935 in Wagram, North Carolina. She moved from North Carolina to Arab in 1967. Mrs. McElroy was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church. She took pride in being a good mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a great asset to the community as she was a charter member of the New Friendship Home Demonstration Club, NECCA member, faithful church member, AARP member, and involved with the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program. She enjoyed sewing and crafts. Not only did Emily do clothing alternations for the community she also made numerous cheerleading uniforms, prom dresses, wedding gowns, and costumes for Arab Musical Theatre. She judged for many 4-H and school contest and volunteered for Vacation Bible Schools. She regularly won many first place ribbons for her sewing and crafts.

    Mrs. McElroy is survived by her daughters Debbie McElroy, Brenda King, and Kelly Parrish, her sister Bonnie Thomas; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. McElroy and her daughter Emily Jo Bowman.

    A visitation has been planned for Friday, April 29, 2022 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel from 9:00 to 11:00 am.

    Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2022 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Bro. Tim Lynch officiating.

    Lee was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Granite Quarry and was a member of the James Mathis Sunday School Class. He was a meat cutter for Winn-Dixie stores retiring with 37 years of service. Lee was an avid woodworker and enjoyed making toys for his children and grandchildren and furniture for his home.

    Family members left to cherish his memory are three daughters; Terry Cameron (Douglas) of Granite Quarry, Linda Ardolino (John) of Burlington, and Deborah Hughes (Michael) of Salisbury, and two sons, Robert Lee "Bobby" Lynch, Jr. and James Edward "Jimmy" Lynch (Jerri) all of Rockwell, two sisters, Geraldine Stancil of Raleigh and Polly Holder of Marietta, Ga., one brother, Randy Vest of Wagram, eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 7. 2018 at Shiloh United Methodist Church, Granite Quarry conducted by Rev. Jonathan Marlowe.

    Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church 10:00 A.M. Friday until the time of the service.
