She is survived by her brother, Tom and Birdie Wilkes, McRae, GA; sisters, Bernice Baker, East Point, Mabel and John Richards, Stockbridge, Jewell Nelson, Leesburg, GA; 14 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 21, 2003 at 1 o'clock in the chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
Interment will be at Magnolia Cemetery.

Mabel Wilkes Richards, age 89, of Riverdale, GA died Tuesday, September 22, 2009. She was born in McRae, GA to the late Elisha and Lavanna Estelle Beaddy Wilkes. Mrs. Richards was a member of Jodeco Baptist Church.
Mrs. Richards is survived by her husband, John Harmon Richards; daughter, Valerie Richards; sisters, Bernice Baker and Jewel Nelson; brother, Tom Wilkes; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at The Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Keith Flemming officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Eastman, GA- Jewell Wilkes Nelson, age 89, formerly of Eastman, died peacefully with family at her side in Willson Hospice House of Albany, Georgia on February 20, 2014.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Chapel of Hardy-Towns Funeral Home with Rev. Russ Elkins officiating. Visitation will be from 2 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Nelson was born in Telfair County to the late Lavanna Braddy and Elisha Wilkes. She lived in Eastman most of her life until moving in 2001 to Leesburg, Georgia to be near her daughter. She was a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church and enjoyed being active for many years with R S Boney Senior Citizens Center in Leesburg.
Mrs. Nelson worked in retail management for many years for many years at Elmore's and Cato Corporation. She also worked at A Touch of Class Florist for several years before retiring.
She was the widow of the late Melvin Clark Nelson Sr. and is survived by one daughter, Dorinda Outs (Jim) of Leesburg, Ga.; sons, Clark nelson (Pat) of Moultrie, Ga., Bobby Nelson (Arlene) of Helena, Ga., and Jeff Nelson (Lynn) of Blackshear, Ga.; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother, Tom Wilkes of McRae, Ga.; sister, Bernice Baker of Fayettville, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Alzeimer's Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon, Ga 31201 or Willson Hospice House, 320 Foundation Lane, Albany, Ga 31707.
