1. | Needham McLendon, Jr was born in 1817 in Laurens, Georgia, USA; died on 30 Oct 1874; was buried in Union Hill Cemetery, Axson, Atkinson, Georgia, USA. Notes:
Needham served as Justice of the Peace in the 1130th district, being commissioned 15 Mar 1861 and serving until his death a few months later. The deaths of Needham and Harriett Sears McLendon left their large family of children without parents, most of them still young. They were taken in charge by Harrison Sears and his wife and reared untill they were either married or old enough to support themselves. ddMr Sears was the administrator of the McLendon estate. Although the estate wasappraised at $3044.50 (a fairly largea sum in those days) its value soon was gone in the years that followed the end of the civil war.
Irene williams obtained most of this information from Lula McQuaig Hays. Lula was my Aunt and the daughter of Mary Elizabeth (Polly) McLendon who was married to James Alexander McQuaig.
