    (April 23, 1948 - March 13, 2008)

Mrs. Joan Stapleton Parrish, 59, of Lake City, died unexpectedly, Thursday, March 13, 2008 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Columbia County, Mrs. Parrish was the daughter of the late J.W. & Vera Tyre Stapleton. Mrs. Parrish was a graduating member of the Columbia High School Class of 1966. She then went to work as a book keeper for Lonnie Lee & Associates, and the J.A. Martin Sawmill. She earned her real estate license in 1980 and worked with ERA & Patton Real Estate companies for several years. Mrs. Parrish was always caring for others and seeing the need for elderly care she opened and operated an A.C.L.F. that housed as many as fifteen elderly people, who while they could not live by themselves anymore they did not yet require a nursing home. In 2000 Mrs. Parrish sold the A.C.L.F. and retired to become a full time "Nanny". She kept each of her grandchildren at home until they began attending school. Mrs. Parrish spent all of her time with her family. Her passion was raising her children and her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and very much enjoyed working in her flower garden. Mrs. Parrish was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Mrs. Parrish is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Thomas "Milton" Parrish, Sr.; her children, Debra Parrish Dees (Jason Evans); Terri Parrish Walters (Kevin); Amanda Parrish Priest (Tommy); Thomas M. Parrish, Jr. (Keisha); Jeffery W. Parrish (Mia); Joseph M. Parrish (Cari Strickland) and Summer Parrish Witt (Ray); her beloved grandchildren, Kevin Walters, Jr., Kennon Walters, Karli Walters, Gracee Priest; Jacob Priest, Mikayla Parrish and Carter Parrish all of Lake City, Florida. Her sister, Norma Jean Edenfield, Waycross, Georgia and her uncles, Elwood Tyre of Lake City; Ralph Tyre of Old Town, Florida; and Franklin Tyre of Macclenny, Florida. Numerous other family members and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Parrish will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 16, 2008 in the chapel of the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home with Bishop Mark Duren officiating. Interment will follow in the Corinth Cemetery (Highway 441 North).
