Sarah Jane "Sally" Prescott Beale, 90, of Danville, Va., died Wednesday (Oct. 26, 2005) at Roman Eagle Memorial Home after a two-year battle with cancer.
The funeral service will be held Friday (today) at 4 p.m. at Schoolfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sarah Doss officiating. Burial will be at Danville Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Beale was born on Aug. 27, 1915 at Folkston, Ga., to the late Owen Melvin Prescott and the late Mary Wildes Prescott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burgin Wally Beale Sr., eight brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Beale was a former teacher and homemaker. She graduated from Charlton County High School and attended Georgia State Women's College in Valdosta and Georgia State Teachers College in Statesboro, Ga.
After her marriage to Wally Beale, she moved to Danville in 1942. She was a member of Schoolfield United Methodist Church for 50 years and a member of the Ladies Bible Class, Adult Bible Class, United Methodist Women, Senior Citizen's Club, Inc., the national and local AARP and Dan River Retiree's Club.
Survivors include her daughters, Lalanne B. Barber and her husband, Bill, of Lansing, Mich., Latrelle B. Francis and her husband, Bob, of Mechanicsville, Va., Linda B. Porter and her husband, Jim, of Chase City, Va., and Lisa B. Niblock and her husband, Marc, of Concord; her son, Burgin W. Beale Jr. and his wife, Beverlee, of Southern Pines; her nephew, Harold Beale and his wife, Mary, of Danville, Va.; a special friend, James Kirby, of Danville, Va.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Swicegood Funeral Home of Danville, Va., is handling the arrangements.
