Deceased Name: Cecil Edward Mixon

Cecil Edward Mixon Sr., 83, died early Saturday morning (March 10, 2007) at his residence following a short illness.

He was a native of Wauchula, Fla., but had resided in Waycross most of his life. He was son of the late John Henry Mixon and Della Taylor Mixon. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Kirkland, and a son, Cecil Edward Mixon Jr.

He was retired from CSX Railroad and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Seventh- Day Adventist Church, Waycross Masonic Lodge No. 305 F&AM, Waycross Shrine Club, Hasan Temple and the Waycross Exchange Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Wildes Mixon, of Waycross; one son, Greg Mixon, of Waycross; one sister, Myrtle Johnson, of Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Music Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.

Terry Henrietta Mixon Kirkland, 57, died suddenly Wednesday (May 17, 2006) at her daughter's residence in Cumming.

She was a native of Pierce County. She lived most of her life in Waycross. She was a dedicated and loving homemaker. She was a member of Kettle Creek Southern Congregational M e t h o d i s t Church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Edward Mixon Jr.

S u r v i v o r s include her husband, Billy Kirkland, of Waycross; two sons, Wayne Kirkland, of Roswell, and Bill Kirkland (Rebecca), of Waycross; a daughter, Pamela Pridgen, of Cumming; four grandchildren, Brooke, Rachel and Samantha Kirkland and Sommer Pridgen; her parents, Cecil E. Mixon Sr. and Mary Wildes Mixon, of Waycross; a brother, Gregory Mixon, of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Kettle Creek Southern Congregational Methodist Church.

Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Music Funeral Home.
