POWELL, JR., WILLIAM JORDAN "BILL", 81
Orange Springs - William Jordan "Bill" Powell, Jr., age 81, of Orange Springs, died on Thursday, November 10, 2011.
He was born on December 20, 1929, in Collins Georgia to the late Vesta Mae and William J. Powell, Sr. He moved to Marion County in 1934. He was a graduate of Anthony High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the Maintenance division at Tacachale in Gainesville in 1994. He was an active member of the Sparr United Methodist Church, an avid Gator fan, and a member of the FGTC.
He is survived by his brother Charles Powell. He is predeceased by the mother of his children, Annette Powell, and his daughter Brenda. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jane Powell, his children, William "Billy" Powell (Brenda), Gene Powell (Kathy), Richard Powell, Ronald Powell (Chi), Donald Powell, Martha LuAnn Phillips (Dale), Jessie Runge (Pat), Cindy Hall, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Bill's life will be held at the Sparr United Methodist Church, 13100 NE Jacksonville Rd., Sparr, FL, on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 10:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that contributions be made in the name of Bill Powell, to the Sparr United Methodist Church, PO Box 777, Sparr, FL 32192.
