Bonnie Lee Wilkes, 76, of Moultrie, passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Reverend Donnie Eubanks officiating. Interment will be in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.
Casketbearers will be Marc Engram, Joshua Thompson, Darrell Thompson, Zachary Tucker, Scotty Tucker, Wesley Alvis, John Billings and Chad Meadows.
Born March 14, 1945, in Staunton, Va., she was the daughter of the late William McKinley Back and Ruby Helmick. She met her husband Carroll C. Wilkes in Staunton, Va., while he was on a service call for Parkwood Mobile Homes and the couple married two weeks later on January 11, 1963. After moving to Moultrie, she graduated from Darton College and became the Head Charge Nurse at Phoebe Medical Center in the cardiac unit before retiring from Colquitt Regional Medical Center. She loved her grandchildren, cooking, and watching movies.
She is proceeded in death by her husband of 36 years, Carroll C. Wilkes. She is survived by her children, Stephen W. Wilkes and wife Candice, of Norman Park, and Heather Turner and husband Chris, of Moultrie; grandchildren, Devin Wilkes Exum and husband Johnathan, Brooke Wilkes, and Kaitlin Turner; great grandchildren Lennon Beth Wilkes Yearta, and Asher Exum; brother Bobby Back and wife Jacqueline; sisters, Betty Lesley, and Ann Harris; and special family friends Alexis Hawkins and Sandra Jeffery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
