Graveside funeral services for Rosalee Hamer Greene, 90, of Elko, SC will be held eleven a.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 in the Joyce Branch Section of The Williston Cemetery with the Reverend Tom Baker officiating. The family will receive friends from ten until ten-forty-five a.m. on Friday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Memorial contributions may be sent in Rosalee's memory to Elko Baptist Church, P.O. Box 277, Elko, SC 29826.
Rosalee passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015.
Born in Marion County, SC she was a daughter of the late Alonza Berry Hamer and Lucy McLellan Hamer and was married to the late James Monroe Greene, Sr.
She was a member of Elko Baptist Church, was an adult Sunday School class teacher, a member of the Fidelis/Clara Hitt Sunday School class and the WMU. She graduated from Zion High School, was the former assistant town clerk of Elko, was the military acting postmaster at Elko from 1961 until 1969, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit # 75 and was a member of the Golden Age Club. Rosalee retired from the Barnwell County Health Department after 16 years of service.
Survivors include sons, James Monroe "Jimmy" (Carolyn) Greene, Jr. of Greer, Jerry Hamer (Karen) Greene of Elko; grandchildren, Ashley (John Scott) Legg, Brannon, Courtney, Autumn, Austin and Savannah Greene; great granddaughters, Emma and Ida Legg; brother, Charlie Edsel Hamer of Aiken. She was preceded in death by brothers, Oscar Hamer, James Lee Hamer and Edgar A. Hamer.
