Robert A. Reeves, Sr., 86, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at home following an extended illness.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Esther Lee Reeves, granddaughter, Cara Allyssa Reeves, and is survived by his children, Millie Reeves, Robert A. Reeves, Jr., and Grady Lee Reeves (Donna), a sister Amalie Helbert, six grandchildren, Robert A. (Corey) Reeves, III (Casey), Margaret Elizabeth Armour (Kelly), Mary Kate Dauler (Trent), Madeline Lee Reeves, Riley Jacob Reeves, Zachary Walker Reeves and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Reeves was born in Burke County and lived all his adult life in Jenkins County. He was a member of Millen United Methodist Church. He was former member of the Millen Lions Club, and the Millen Rotary Club. He served on the board of Planters EMC for forty five years, and held the positions of chairman, vice chairman, secretary-treasurer, and finance committee member. He served on the Georgia EMC Board, the Georgia Milk Producers Board and the Georgia Commodities Commission for Milk.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy, and owned and operated a Standard Oil station before becoming a farmer, which he remained for the balance of his life.
A service celebrating his life, death and resurrection will be held at Millen United Methodist Church on Monday, July 1, 2013, at 11:00 A.M., Rev. David Willett, Hubert Reeves and Bobby Reeves officiating. Friends may call upon the family at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home on Sunday evening between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 o’clock P.M., or at the home of Lee Reeves.

Active pallbearers are Thurmon Kent Jr., Stewart Rackley, Scott Rackley, David Reeves, Charlie Lanier, Jr. and Mike Reeves. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Planters EMC board, and the Beulah Garner Sunday School Class.
