Donald Christie Greene (Chris), 28 Oct 1953 - 8 June 2013, son of C. F. Greene, Jr., and Ouida Scott Greene, lived most of his life in Jacksonville. He graduated from Englewood High School in 1971 and served in the U.S.A.F.
Among his many careers, he was captain of a commercial fishing boat, a sign technician who sailed to exotic ports, a licensed cosmetologist, and a military policeman. His final job was with the City of Jacksonville in the Traffic Engineering department.
He is survived by his mother, Ouida Scott Greene, his aunt Scott Matlock, sisters Sara Gann (David) and Debra Faircloth (John Belyea), brothers Kevin Greene (Cheri) and C. F. Greene III "Chip" (Ashley), step-mother Theresa Hazel, and fiancé Toni Williams. Nieces and nephews include Jennifer Charipar (Andrew), Cate Tyer-Gordy (Tom), John Jeremie Faircloth (Ashley), BrynAnne Nielsen (Jason), Madison Greene and Fenn Greene. Great-nieces and nephews include Michael and Ayla Charipar, Becca and Miranda Tyer, Blake Belyea, Hannah and Elliott Nielsen, Quinn Faircloth, and stepdaughter Tamara Sprinkle and grandson Larry III.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, 15 June, immediately followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road North www.hardage-giddenschapelhills.com. This is immediately across the street from Craig Field. Interment will follow in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends after the funeral at the Gann home. Please remember that some family members are allergic to perfume.
The family wishes to thank the City employees who so generously donated their vacation and sick time to Don (aka Chris to his family) during his illness, especially those in the Sign Shop. We are so grateful.
