Jacob Franklin “Frank” Highsmith, III., 79, of Myrtle Beach passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 at Embrace Hospice House. He was born April 03, 1938 in Fayetteville, NC, son of the late Jacob Franklin Highsmith, II. And Cornelia McIntyre.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, John Murdock McIntyre Highsmith.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Edith Highsmith of Charlotte, NC.
Frank was an US Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He built and operated a miniature golf course and later went to work in the gift shop at Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede, now Pirates Voyage, which he enjoyed. Frank was ambassador for the Imagination Library program, a foundation that mails free books monthly to children across Horry County until the age of five. He loved to help people and wanted to make everyone feel welcome and like family.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. Burial will follow at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
