    Marcus Wilks Morrison

    ROCK HILL - Mr. Marcus Wilks Morrison, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at Hospice & Community Care in Rock Hill, S.C. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at Mt. Prospect United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

    The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Sunday in the church fellowship hall.

    Mr. Morrison was born May 3, 1923, in Chester County and was a son of the late James William Morrison and Lottie Irene Reid Morrison. He attended Richburg High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he served as a radio operator in England, France, Belgium, and Germany from May, 1943 to Dec. 1945. He was a retired farmer and mail carrier for Richburg and was also a member of Mt. Prospect United Methodist Church.

    He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hall Morrison; two daughters, Suzanne Morrison Harnois and husband Bob, of Rock Hill and Patti Morrison Price and husband Bill, of Waxhaw, N.C.; and two grandsons, Andrew and Steven Price of Waxhaw. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Leslie Morrison, Reid Morrison, Lewis Morrison, W.B. Morrison, Leland Morrison, and L.E. Morrison; and four sisters, Hazel M. Ligon, Macie M. Porter, Love M. Kobak and Hope M. Gast.

    Memorials may be made to Mount Prospect UMC, 2543 Mountain Gap Rd., Richburg, SC 29729.
