OKEECHOBEE - Eloise (Thompson) Martin died Feb. 25, 2018. She was born Dec. 26, 1922 in Collins, Ga. to Wilmer Nicholas and Martha Elizabeth (Jarriel) Thompson. A resident of Okeechobee for eleven years, she loved saltwater fishing, playing golf, playing bridge, and had a passion for sewing and doing alterations for people she knew. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends and cooking for all.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Harvey Martin, Jr.; and her sons, Harvey Martin, III and Doug Martin.
She is survived and was loved by her son, Bill Martin, of Gainesville; daughter, Virginia Gregory (Martin), of Port St. Lucie; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Dick Thompson (Bettye), of Loxahatchee; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Okeechobee's Recreation Outreach Center "ROC," 310 SW 5th Avenue, Okeechobee, Florida, 34974.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5090 Dunn Road, Ft. Pierce, Florida 34981, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
