    HORNE Leonard Horne, 80, of Jacksonville, passed away on 8/13/09 at his residence.

    Mr. Horne proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was also a 50 yr. Mason, founding member and former president of Thomas Jefferson Civic Center, member of international assoc. of machinist local # 1248, was retired from St. Regis Paper Company, and a member of Florida Christmas Tree assoc. His hobbies included caring for God's creations.

    Survivors include his wife Ola (Betty) Horne, 2 daughters Lanette (Dale) Denby, and Deborah Louise Horne, 5 sons George (Anne), Wayne (Joy), Kenny (Tina), Ernie (Patty), and Toby Horne, sister Retha Powers, as well as 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

    Mr. Horne was a devoted loving husband of 59 years. A father who instills strong values and work ethics in all seven of his children. A man who cared deeply about his country, community, and those around him. He opened his home to countless foster children, providing them with a safe haven and stability at a fragile time in their lives. He will be missed by the many lives he touched.

    Visitation will be held on Thurs. 8/20/09 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church (Marietta), with Funeral Services also held at the church on Fri. 8/21/09 at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery with full Military Honors.
