Mrs. Carolyn Lawrence, age 69 of Vidalia, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta after an extended illness. She was a native of Pahokee, Florida and lived there until marrying her late husband Richard Lawrence and she became a career army wife. After his retirement they made Vidalia their home in 1976, and she attended the Lyons Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lemmie and Earlene Beasley Wilkes; and three siblings, Doris Wilkes, Earl Wilkes, and Johnny Wilkes.
Mrs. Lawrence is survived by her devoted companion, Louie Spratlin of Vidalia; three children, Julie McMichael of Vidalia, Richard Lawrence and wife Dana of Vidalia, and Dawn Lawrence Enright and husband Tim of Raleigh, North Carolina; one sister, Janice Wilkes of Vidalia; two brothers, Clayton Wilkes and James Roy Wilkes both of Gainesville, Florida; grandchildren, Heather, Katelyn, Michelle, Scarlett, Rebecca, and Kayla; and one great-granddaughter, Brooklynn.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2nd at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Henry Dowd officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 2:00 until 3:00.
