Mattie Wilkes Hancock
BLYTHEWOOD:Funeral services for Mattie Wilkes Hancock will be held at 2pm Friday, October 9, 2009, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, officiated by Rev. William Allen. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Hancock, Mike Hancock, Michael E. Hancock, Sidney Hancock, Jr., David Hancock and Michael LaRosa. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enon Southern Methodist Church, 2215 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29223.
Mrs. Hancock, widow of Jack Daniel (J.D.) Hancock, died Monday, October 5, 2009. Born in Chester, SC, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Roy Wilkes and Belle Adkins Wilkes. She was a member of Enon Southern Methodist Church where she was the pianist and organist for 39 years. Mrs. Hancock was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a dedicated servant of the Lord.
Survivors include: sons, Danny Hancock (Marcia M.) of Simpsonville, Sidney Albert Hancock (Patricia) of Lilburn, GA, and Roy E. Hancock (Mae) of Blythewood; daughter-in-law, Christine B. Hancock of Columbia; 13 grandchildren, a number of great and great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hancock was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Jack W. and Janice Hancock; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Miller Hancock, sisters, Virginia LaRosa and Margaret Williams; and brothers, Roy Wilkes, Jr., and Little Billy Wilkes.

Albert Sidney Hancock, Sr., age 73 of Lilburn, GA., passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years Patricia Daniels Hancock. He is survived by his children, Albert Sidney Hancock, Jr, John David Hancock and wife Kelli, Catherine Wright Mayo, Patrick Cooper Hancock, Jack Daniel Hancock, and Alicia Belle Hancock; 2 brothers, Danny and Roy Hancock; 22 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hancock attended the Olympia H.S. in Columbia, SC. He was a Chief Petty Officer 1st class with 21 years of service with the U.S. Navy before retiring. He worked with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints welfare services in both Jacksonville, FL and Atlanta, GA, for 23 years. He also served as a Bishop with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Jacksonville, FL, for three years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
The viewing service for Albert Sidney Hancock, Sr, will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel.
