LaVerne Myron Tyler, 79, of Palatka, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at Putnam Community Medical Center.
A native of Lake City, he resided in Palatka since 1949, coming from Jacksonville. He retired from Georgia-Pacific as a pipe fitter after 44 years of service. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in WWII and was a member of American Legion Post 45, Lemon Heights Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Tyler.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marlene Tyler of Palatka; a daughter, Phyllis Bayatzadeh of Miami; a sister, Margaret Cole of Jacksonville; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Tyler of Warwick, Ga.; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Bayatzadeh and Christopher, Matthew and Daniel Tyler, and two great-grandchildren, Tristie and Amber Tyler.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with the Rev. Eddie Humes officiating. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens with the U.S. Army conducting military honors.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
