    Mrs. Ethel Lenora Proveaux Dick, 94, 855 Cognac Road, Marston, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at her home.

    She was born March 10, 1915, in Richmond County, daughter of Martin Michael Proveaux and Christian Lenora Wilkes Proveaux.

    Mrs. Dick was a homemaker and a member of Marks Creek Presbyterian Church.

    Visitation will be Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home.

    Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 11 a.m.
    at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ken Goins and Rev. Ladd Brearley officiating. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery.

    Mrs. Dick is preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, Lawrence Alexander Dick; a son, William H. Dick; three brothers, Martin M. Proveaux, Perry Proveaux and Ervin Proveaux; and a half sister, Libby P. Goza.

    Survivors include daughters, Lenora D. Laton of Marston, Janice D. McCaskill of Rockingham, and Nancy D. King of Columbia, S. C.; sons, Larry M. Dick Sr. of Rockingham and Vernon A. Dick of Rockingham; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

    William H. Dick: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice

    Deceased Name: William H. Dick

    Mr. William Holly Dick, 63, of Marston, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at his residence.

    A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Ken Goins and Ladd Brearley officiating.

    Mr. Dick was born in Richmond County on Aug. 31, 1941, a son of Lawrence and Ethel Proveaux Dick. He graduated from Hoffman High School in 1959, after which he joined the United States Navy where he served as a Seabee and participated in both the Bay of Pigs invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
    He married the former Patsy Merritt in 1974. He was a talented musician who belonged to the Musicians Union in Ashtabula, Ohio, when he resided there, and was lead singer and lead guitarist for both the Country Gentlemen and Country Grass bands. He was a member of the Eagles Club, the V.F.W., the Moose Lodge, and Marks Creek Presbyterian Church.
    In 1990, he retired from Laurel Hill Paper Company as a certified welder, and spent his retirement pursuing his hobby as a woodworker.

    He was preceded in death by two sons, Johnny and Travis Pinney; a grandson, Daniel Hotaling Jr.; and his father, Lawrence A. Dick.

    He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patsy; his mother, Ethel P. Dick; two sons, Scott Pinney and wife Diana of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Timothy Pinney and wife Linda of Aberdeen; five daughters, Debby Hotaling and husband Dan of Ashtabula, Ohio, Elizabeth Sparks and husband Ricky of Marston, Sharon Young and husband Jeff of Gibson, Sandy Wagner and husband David of Marston, and Annette Coleman of Rockingham; two brothers, Larry Dick and Vernon Dick, both of Rockingham; three sisters, Lenora Laton of Marston, Janice McCaskill of Rockingham, and Nancy King of Columbia, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

    The family will receive friends at the home at 891 Cognac Road, Marston, immediately following the memorial service.

    Sandhills Funeral Home of Aberdeen is serving the family.
